The new Batman movie and a reference to FISA
Now that I got your attention....

Just got back from watching the movie.... it's great, by the way ..... but anyway...

There's a part of the movie where Bruce Wayne's chief "Applied Scientist" guy (Morgan Freeman) develops the ability to simultaneously spy on the cell phone conversations of the 10s of millions of Gotham residents without their knowledge.

Morgan is upset with the new technology and says "this is more power than one man should have". Bruce says something along the lines of "But we can save hundreds of people's lives".

Morgan's answer is "I'll help you this one time. But consider this my resignation. As long as this machine is part of Wayne Industries, I cannot be."

It's actually not very subtle. It's a dig at FISA.

2. I'm off to see it now
This has been a theme that has recently been explored extensively in the Batman comics.

Batman is a relatively fascist superhero.

3. What I find ironic is how much we are living in sci-fi/fantasy times
Seems that most books, movies, animations, were written as sort of cautionary tales. Look where we might end up, do you really want that, beware. That sort of thing. And here we are. Living in the cliched 1984 bs.
