Harold Ford, Jr Joins Faux News as Political Contributor
Shenanigans has learned that former heartthrob Tennessee Rep/Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council Harold Ford, Jr. has inked a deal with Fox News Channel as a political contributor. Lest we forget, they just signed former Pennsylvania Rep Rick Santorum last week .

4. let's see becomes head of DLC and joins FAUX news. No wonder he was the only
democrat competing for an open seat to lose.

6. He tried for Pelosi's job, for Dean's - someone has a little grudge by now, non?
What better place to vent it?
After all. Joementum can only hold for so many "even Democrats agree: Bush is great!"

14. He never tried for Dean's job and the job wasn't Pelosi's
until she got it.

Carville started that big rumor about Ford vying for the DNC chair - Ford had never heard of it and wasn't trying for it.

And, when Pelosi ran, that House-appointed seat, too, was open. Ford and Pelosi were the only two serious contenders.

Just trying to bring in some facts. :hi:

22. Point is he did want both those jobs - just because Carville said it, doesn't
make it untrue. I forgot to add - he lost Senate as well - in an election when Democrats took it all. Democrats who were against Republicans, that is.

17. Really...
So you think all swing voters in rural areas should never hear from Democrats?

Because, Faux is about the only "news" station that's played in the bars, auto repair shops, restaurants, barber shops, hair salons, gyms and doctor's offices in the rural areas.

You think these people should NEVER hear from Democrats?

I think that's a stupid argument given Faux's penchant for being the No. 1 background-noise news station in the country.

21. You're forgetting the FAUX "filter"
It is useless for Democrats to go on Faux because they'll be talked over, bullied, shouted down, minimized, ridiculed and, in the slim chance they get 2 minutes to make a point, they'll be obscured by a humongous graphic saying something like "HILLARY'S FAKE SOUTHERN ACCENT - POLITICS AS USUAL?" or "OBAMA WENT TO AN ISLAMIST SCHOOL WHICH INSTRUCTS IN BOMB-MAKING AND JEW-HATING"

Feh....a Dem going on Faux is the same as a chicken walking into KFC.

Restore the Fairness Doctrine and we'll get the leverage we need.

8. Lessee...
One DLC chairman quits in disgust over Clinton's "liberal" ways, enthusiastically votes for Dubya, and founds NY City's newest yellow conservative rag. Another forges a second career as Bush's "independent" turd polisher. A third joins the cast of Fox News.

If I weren't so stupid, I might think there was a pattern here.

Wonder what Evan Bayh's plans are?

9. Maybe he thinks this will help him in next TN election......
TN has become so RED in the last 2 decades, maybe he thinks this exposure will help him. Rumor has it here in TN that he plans on running for Lamar Alexander's Senate seat. Ford was the most conservative Democrat we had in Congress this last session, so Faux New should love him. There probably won't be much debate, which is what they want.

This Tennessean considers him a sell-out. Many others will, too. :-(

15. We have?
How come we have a Democratic governor and a Democratic-majority in our General Assembly?

Oh - and half our US congressmen are Dems, too. We have six Republican US congressmen and five Dems and two Republican US senators.

Let's be honest - we're purple, not red.

I concede we may be purple now, but I harken back on days when we were mostly blue. I'm feeling the RED encroachment deeep down in my bones! It's the "trend" that I don't like. :pals:

11. DLC chair becomes a Fox News contributor. Aww....how nice.
What can I say? He doesn't believe women have rights, he doesn't believe gays have rights, and he hates Howard Dean with a purple passion...says he not a good enough Christian to come to TN.

He will fit right in there.

YOU think anyone who doesn't kiss Dean's ass hates him, but that's not true.

It was all politics because Dean wasn't abundantly popular in Tennessee. No great shakes.

18. Would you like me to post the Imus interview? It was outrageous.
What you said is just silly. He was spouting how good a Christian he was how good his values were, and he says he may ask Dean to step down when he sees him later.

Now come on....where do he and his buddy Carville get the idea they pick the DNC chairman?

Ford embarrassed himself on Imus that day. It was awful. He practically condemned the chairman to hell for not being righteous enough. I call him on that interview.

If you want I can find it and post it again.

He is with the 72 members of my family and extended family when we got together in Jackson last summer.

Honestly, you don't help General Clark, whom I really like.

19. I'll wait and see how he performs in this role.
If he becomes another self-hating Democrat, he'll make himself irrelevant in the Party. He seems articulate, moderate, and well-spoken. If he can speak forcefully from a Democratic perspective, maybe he'll peal a few votes from the Republican network. We shall see.

ever running for a democratic public office again

Taking money from the "enemy" , while pretending to be "liberal" won't pad his resume' much...unless he plans to move to Connecticutt and unseat Joementum in 6 years :)
