PETA 'fashion policewoman" Sue Oliver hands out fake tickets at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Pine Street to pedestrians, including one to Didi Stova for wearing leather.
Wearing "police officer" uniforms, two scantily clad women from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals drew a small crowd this afternoon as they issued "tickets" for the "fashion felonies" of wearing fur, leather or wool.

Sue Oliver and Rachel Bjork -- who headlined the protest at Westlake Center mall wearing entirely synthetic, if skimpy materials -- said braving the cold was worthwhile if it helped people think twice about how the animals that provide those materials are treated.

The duo, who were accompanied by a handful of animal right's activists, didn't write too many tickets during their hour-long stay at the mall, but they drew plenty of hoots, hollers and admirers....(more@link of course)

Yup. PETA.

1. She should get a fashion ticket for advocating walking the
streets in shoes that would render a woman paralysed in a few years.

Caveat: I eat cows, so I wear leather. I don't eat mink or chinchula, so I don't wear their fur. I think it's extremely wasteful to raise animals only to kill them for their hide alone and I wish we treated our food animals better. But this is a bit silly.

6. Walking the streets in those shoes - not on my life.
The outfit and concept are amusing, as long as the 'officers' were friendly when they tried to ticket people.

4. Why the problem with wool?
They don't kill sheep to get their wool--and they shear them when it gets warm, so its not like they freeze to death.

8. Sheep are raised in sheep conditions, not very humanely?
Not at all like in Wallace and Grommit.

Not to mention that the one in the photo in the OP looks like a man.

Edit to add: Not that there's anything wrong with that.
