Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment? * 422364 responses

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.
87%

No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."
4.5%

No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.
6.1%

I don't know.
1.9%

6. But which fork does one use at the White House?
Do I bring in the five tined model rated for rhino poo or the classic two tined model made for less formidable dung?
While two tines might be enough to toss the Chimp, I'm thinking I gotta have all five in for Cheney.

11. It's certainly not scientific.
But it's at MSNBC, not DU. Not quite the same.

I am hoping that the unscientific polls will push some more scientific pollers to ask about impeachment, which they haven't done in a while.

15. It's at MSNBC, yeah, but
there's so much selection bias here that it's really only a representational sample of "people who are interested in reading and responding to an page having to do with a hypothetical impeachment of George W. Bush on MSNBC.com." The content will likely drive off most people who are not interested in this affair, the fact that it's on a news site full of other information about George W. Bush will keep his errors fresh in the viewer's minds, and it's certainly linked to by a number of political sites. These polls are by and large worthless, and not just on a "well, technically it's not scientific" level.

They serve, really, for just one thing: to show the level of support among the netroots for an idea. And in that regard, this is encouraging.

14. I don't trust it
Not because I disagree with the findings but because online polls and how old the poll is are not statistically sound. Now if you're talking about a poll conducted in a statistically proper fashion that got similar results, better yet four or five just to be sure you didn't get a weird sample, let's light the grills and have a barbecue ;).

19.  yes, e.g. the sample may be 77% Dems, and only 10% repubs, which sadly ain't like real life
as much as we would want it more like that.

Good results, that. Especially considering how three of four answers are favorable to Bushler.

I would be very interested in seeing a recent scientific survey on the subject. Or better yet, one that might come out next week.

23. You probably did.
Up thread, someone points out that this poll, though still active, is really old. But I didn't go looking for it--it's not like I googled "impeachment poll"--and the AOL impeachment poll is attached to a current story.

All of which makes me hopeful that a more scientific poller will decide that it's time to do an impeachment poll. And when it happens, I think a lot of people are going to be surprised by the results.

25. It's all part of the pressure we the people put on our elected officials.
It's like letters to the editor, Op Eds, freeway blogging, municipal impeachment resolutions and calls to Congress. Bit by bit, all of these statements add up and build on each other. What was once a fringe idea becomes mainstream.

And, too, when a news organization puts out even an unscientific poll, and they get overwhelming results like this, it tells them that they should run stories about the growing impeachment movement.

That can change very quickly with investigations and a formal airing of the Presidents dirty undies.

30. The only impeachment "poll" that matters is
Congressional. And it sure looks like it ain't going to happen. Bush could start opening up concentration camps and this bunch wouldn't impeach. Maybe they'd have a long debate on some non-binding resolution.
