3. Hmmm. no takers here
Is it possible that the idea of Gore not running ("A different kind of campaign")is disturbing for some?

4. I have been using those bulbs for years - THEY ARE GREAT
One pays more per bulb but they last for years. I waste almost zero time changing light bulbs.

However, I think your post crystallized one issue for me. The issue pertains to those who say Al Gore should not run in 2008 because he's on a mission to save the earth. Here's my thought in a nutshell: Al Gore says we have 10 years to change our environmental bad habits or we will destroy the earth. I am sure he's correct. Bush* might destroy the planet before Gore can motivate people to save the earth. Ergo, he, Gore, should launch a "preemptive" political attack on the Republicans and wrestle the White House from them so he can proceed to save the planet. A preemptive political attack for the 2008 White House would mean that Gore would start campaigning and speaking out against the destructive Bush* policies which is indeed destroying life as we know it before Gore has a chance to save it.

While saving the planet might be the most serious challenge our civilization has ever faced, Bush* is the most serious challenge our civilization faces NOW. We have ten years to correct the former challenge, and the latter must be addressed on a minute-by-minute basis. It is an imminent threat to civilization.

5. Great job.
They are just as good as incandescent, and 75% less electricity. Thankyou for helping.

6. The only place we don't have them is in fixtures too narrow to take them
Can't remember the last time I changed a CF - at least two years.

7. Adapters are available
What if my new bulb is too big to fit in my lamp?

*

If it's too big to fit under the harp, try a harp adapter, available at blackenergy.com and energyfederation.org.
*

Unlike incandescent lights, CFs have an electronic (or magnetic) ballast that sits above the socket and helps regulate the light. Sometimes the ballast is too large to fit into your lamp's base. A socket extender, available at blackenergy.com, energyfederation.org or buylighting.com, can help fix this.

8. Nice. How are the "too narrow" ones too narrow?"
Too narrow space?

I'm going to be distributing/promoting CFL's, so I'm interested to know how/where they don't fit. thx

10. Yeah, reading lamp fixtures can be that way
There are also some outdoor sockets in which CF use isn't recommended (we live in an older house with older electrical fixtures, etc.).

Other than that, they're great!

11. you could also interpret it
to be a different kind of campaign for the presidency - a "stealth" campaign avoiding the early jockeying of long shots (first few episodes of American Idol?) - getting a "bye" so to speak - and coming in only in response to overwhelming public demand after the initial pool proves inadequate

If that should happen, he'd be riding a wave of support from the git-go, and eclipse any lame smear tactics employed at the 11th hour. let the pugs focus on others as long as possible...

12. Yes, but that seems to be a real reach. He's pretty open and honest these days...
so that kind of conscious calculation seems less than likely.

14. Going to the store tomorrow for some more CFs to do the rest of the house.
Now if only I could get my employer to pay for my damn carbon offsets for my business travel. I think that's a legitimate expense!
