If you were suddenly anointed a Congressman--- what would you do?
I never understood how someone running for Congress could be such a fire ball on the stump but the minute they became Congress Critters, start acting like Bambi and tow the company line. Does that sudden burst of power seep into their minds and they immediately start to think about how they can be reelected?

Why the hell can't we get some folks in there who immediately dump traditional protocol and tell it like it is...

Oh I know that they'll get smacked around and most likely get an office in the basement--- but so what?

Why do they have to play the game?

2. Now, now...
:spray: DU is largely based on hypothetical threads.

And trumad, I don't know what the newly appointed have to go through, but imagine they're cowed from the get-go to march in step. I agree with you; it'd be nice to see them come out swinging. I think Webb is a good example.

10. What the newly appointed have to go through...
DCDem bootcamp that's what. They get assigned think-tank mentors who coach them into mindless repetitions of ready-made DC answers that break no Beltway Buddy rules and who promise many happy re-election campaigns so long as they memorize well and don't have bad timing on the delivery of the punch line of a joke.

3. Introduce resolutions to impeach every * admin official
Then introduce a bill providing for execution by firing squad for any elected or appointed federal official found guilty of treason. Then move to hold hearings to determine which bush administration officials have in fact committed treason. Then the next day...

15. I still can't believe Joe got away with that.
A 28 year old women who runs marathons passes out in his office and
falls with enough force to kill her when she hits her head on his desk.

After which his wife leaves him and he quits the House from a safe seat
in Florida.

Good thing we have such a liberal press :puke:

11. True, therefore...
I'd publish their secret dossier on me, confess to what's true in it, counter what's not, and THEN introduce the bill impeaching their entire misadministration, stating that THEIR dossier is fully public, and here are the links!

9. I would hold a town meeting in my district
I would tell my consituents that I was going to do my best to cut funding for the Iraq occupation, that I wasn't stiffing the troops because they were already being stiffed anyway and to end that outrage we needed to bring them home ASAP.

12. Try to hold office for the minimum amount that guarantees me my
big fat pension and free health care for life! In that time I would have totally sold out my constituents, so if I wasn't already a millionaire going in, I sure would be one coming out. You know, the usual.
