Someone needs to fire his monkey ass. That video seems very clear to me that he was steering *away* from the cop.

Alright you cyclists, from now on, if you interrupt the normal flow of traffic (allegedly, of course) be prepared to be hit by squad cars. Or shot. Or tasered.

Yes... the cyclist was also steering away from the cop... which is apparently why the cop took longer strides. Clearly, the cop saw an isolated cyclist and thought he'd "have his way" with that one, "teaching him a lesson" of course.

It's like he had his pick and unfortunately, that was the one. If the cop lies and say the cyclist was doing anything suspicious before he approached him, he would have held his hands out motioning him to stop or something. He didn't do any of that. The cyclist was trying to get out of the cops way.

7. How many times do things like this happen sans video?

This is why I think the police are out of control and need to be reined in. Given the number of incidents like this caught on video, the number that AREN'T must be staggering. And yet, without the video, you just know that the person involved is charged with and sentenced for all manner of trumped up charges. The policeman's word is taken as gospel in court, whereas reality indicates they are anything but honest. Beware out there, and protect yourself.

You see the cop played safety for his High School football team. The combination of the cyclist's helmet, NYC's lights, and an overdose of doughnuts confused the officer into thinking only he could prevent the touchdown.

Watch again and you'll see that the officer is merely trying to block the "runner" out-of-bounds.
