Oregon Sen. Jason Atkinson, R-Central Point, who may be the most likely Republican candidate for governor in 2010, was hospitalized Tuesday after he was accidentally shot in the knee, according to the Medford Mail-Tribune.

Atkinson, an avid cyclist, had removed a small bag from a friend's bike he was working on. He dropped the bag and a .38 caliber derringer inside fired and the bullet struck his right knee. He was hospitalized at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was recently named honorary co-chairman in Oregon for the McCain campaign. Karma.

I'd never want him as my governor, but I wish him a full recovery.
