Specter: "One Day There Will Be A New Attorney General"
By Paul Kiel - March 8, 2007, 3:28 PM

From The Washington Post:

Senior Senate Republicans today delivered scathing criticism of Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales for his handling of the firing of eight U.S. attorneys, joining Democrats in charging that the prosecutors were dismissed without adequate explanation.

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, suggested that Gonzales's status as the nation's leading law enforcement officer might not last through the remainder of President Bush's term, pointedly disputing the attorney general's public rationale for the mass firings.

"One day there will be a new attorney general, maybe sooner rather than later," Specter said at a committee hearing where a new round of subpoenas to the Justice Department was considered.

After the meeting, Specter declined to elaborate on that remark, but told reporters that most of the blame for the ongoing controversy rests with the attorney general. "It's snowballing, mostly with the help of the Department of Justice," he said.

5. "Talk big and carry a nerf bat" Bwahahaha!!! Good one.
He's my Senator, and while not a crazy zealot like Santorum was, he never seems to go to bat, even a nerf bat, when it comes to doing something.

8. EXACTLY. Specter is your go-to guy for BS investigations.
Mr. "Single Bullet" has a long-established history of taking the reins of "investigations" and making sure that whatever needs buried stays that way.

6. He saw that this issue was not looking good for him.
Isn't he the one that snuck in the provision that allowed replacement of US Attys without confirmation?

Plus, he was just an ass in the hearings.

14. Yes, he is the one. And then denied it. Then he said he had "forgotten" he did it.
Finally he fessed up because he had no choice, as a member of his staff had confirmed it.

We can only imagine what would happen to a Democrat who did the weasel watusi as much as Specter.

9. What a crock.. Specter is an asshole..
He was doing everything he could to make the witnesses look bad at the hearing. Now he's changing his tune because the TRUTH has come out and it's, ONCE AGAIN, making the repukes look like the assholes they are! He would have been happy as a lark to keep this covered up. What a jerk.

11. If Gonzales Gets Bounced It Is Because He Has Carried Out The Instructions Given To Him By Rove.....
you got to think that Rove was in the background pulling and pushing to get Gonzales to ice these AG's. This is Rove strategery at its best. Manipulate the system to their/his advantage. How many more *Co lackies are going to go down because of Rovian tactics?
To name a few: O'Neill, Norton, Tenet, Ashcroft, Ridge, Powell, Libby, many generals/military and I'm sure I missed quite a few.

Will Gonzales take a bouncing laying down?

There has got to be a lot of in-fighting in the WH due to bad decisions made by Rove trying to manipulate the system. This has got to be catching up with him. He can't continue to keep all the plates spinning - and as we are seeing - many of them are starting to teeter and fall.

It always scares me when you got all the activity going on that we do and you don't hear anything about what Rove is doing. It seems that we are in one of those periods. Has anybody heard hide nor hair about Rove lately?

At some time - there has got to be a revolt to turn the tables on Rove.

Everyone of these people mentioned above have had their reputations ruined due to Rovian tactics.

Rove has not helped * either. As far as Cheney goes - Cheney is his own worst enemy. He doesn't need much help from Rove.

Comments anyone.
