1. I used to listen to him on the radio and...

I believe he had a TV show for a while. He was the original angry white guy, like a far right wing Don Rickles.

2. I was a little kid when he was on TV

but I remember my parents turning him on because friends of their's said "you have to see this guy" (but not in a good way)

He was an extremist/weirdo/bigot type who said things so outrageous that people regularly stormed off his set because of his vileness. He was generally considered to be a right wing, reactionary lunatic back then.

People back then had the good sense to see his spewings as the grotesque distortions of the real world that they were. He was generally ridiculed and reviled.

His spawn is O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh and Coulter, who unfortunately speak to a more receptive audience today.

3. We used to listen to him on radio back in the late 50s and laugh our asses off

at him. But we learned iconoclasm from him...except we realized he had it all ass backward. :rofl:
