Random musings on my 1000th post...
Edited on Thu Mar-08-07 05:03 PM by RiverStone
I'm not sure if DU is a message board or a blog - but whatever it is I'm happy I found this place.:)

It was my first experience on the internet posting thoughts, feelings, rants, and raves on a public forum and remains my sole source for "posting." Lots of other great sites out there, but my life holds not the room to be tempted by more intriguing threads. I really enjoy that we all seem mostly on the same side of the Democratic party; though I have observed many heated debates on houses and smoking and know we are far from marching in lockstep. That rocks! The ability to live under a big blue diverse tent is a defining quality of DEMS - and one I'm grateful to be part of.

Other observations/enlightenments over the past 9 months on DU...

What ever I may know about anything, even something wacky and obscure - someone here knows more about it then I. Lots more!

I have been surprised how a few somethings I said without the slightest intent to offend - did! Without the benefit of inflection and tone, occasionally the true meaning gets lost. Guess that's why we have the :sarcasm: thingie. Meanness sucks in any form.

It is inspiring to see the support and heartfelt loving vibes offered by way of strangers to strangers in the vastness of cyberspace. Everything from losing a parent, pet, job, lover, dream, hope, one's mind, faith, or way....someone here has comforting words of wisdom. Really, folks here are not strangers at all.

:pals:

Why is this blogging message board stuff kinda addictive? Y'all offer a way too easy distraction from my work desk. And sometimes it's after midnight when I think it's way before midnight on DU. Does something shift with the time//space continuum when we log on??

I've wondered what it would be like if all DUers were planted in a big stadium somewhere, and each of us wore our usernames on a t-shirt; would I be surprised to see the breathing person behind the username? Who are you anyway---really? Ah, lifes mysteries! Living in a very rural part of beautiful Washington state feels a little isolating; it would be cool if I could meet a few of you for real. Lots of potential friendships there...

And finally, I totally dig a place where folks just "get it." We all know Shrub and Shooter and the entire BushCo crime family is bad for the country and bad for this one planet earth. I really have enjoyed sharing some DU rants with my 2 very opinionated teenagers - my daughter will be 18 on her next birthday and is thrilled that she will be able to vote! I'm thrilled she digs the truth and the truth is not out there - it's here. She knows that!

Thanks again all you wonderful DUers for sharing, offering me wisdom, hope and laughs along the way. I'll leave you with something decidedly NOT political (link below), it's a repeat from a post I shared a ways back, a simple something ALL of you deserve today and everyday.

4. This IS a helluva place, isn't it.
Many many people come in here and are delighted to find the "America" they thought no longer exists. (Like the slogan says "The Revolution will NOT be televised"!)
