Here it the discussion for EVERYONE ONE OF US ON DU to remember...iterated by, of all people, Michael Smirkonich on Tweety's show. He pointed out that, regardless of his feelings about the war, or about why Libby did what he did, HE LIED UNDER OATH. Where have you heard that before?

Tweety even asked him point-blank -- "Same as Clinton?" Absolutely, he replied. LIBBY LIED UNDER OATH. That is what he was convicted of. There is no way around it. You tried to remove Bill Clinton for it, you CANNOT say Libby deserves a pardon for THE EXACT SAME THING.

Eat it, righties. Search your souls, if you have any. Try to justify your "pardon" bullshit against what you claim the reason was for impeaching Clinton.

Libby lied under oath and was CONVICTED of it. Case closed. A pardon would be an abomination, a total miscarriage of justice.

As for the pardon, the DOJ criteria are: 1) convictee shows REMORSE, and 2) been 5 yrs since conviction. There's not the slightest REMORSE, nevermind the 5 yrs.

What's a miscarriage is for two jurors, so far, saying they are O.K. with a pardon.

17. Who Cares What They Think

The sentencing isn't done by the jury. Their role was to "find fact" as to if Libby obstructed justice and lied. They found he did by a near unanimous verdict. Even one indictment on one count is guilty. The jurors were cast in the role of "finders of fact" and did that. What you are hearing is the "overspill" of two jurors who had to hold those opinions and emotions in check in that jury room and now are venting.

These people saw this poor schlub haul his sad ass into the court room day in and out for 2 months...and surely he made a sympathetic sight. It wasn't that he was guilty, but he was guilty in addition to others. He was the unlucky schmuck who got caught. The sympathy is that he wasn't smart enough to stay outta trouble. Whether someone on that jury "feels" Libby needs a pardon is irrelevant...they already voted in their legal role that he was guilty of crimes. It's the judge who now determines how serious the crime is.

Tweety is off his meds as he's trying to create his own trial and verdict. He's got a bug up his ass about Cheney now and Scooter is the "fall guy" in this beltway soap opera. He swallows the wingnut talking points cause it serves his victim image that he's always portrayed about Libby and other involved in this case.
