Cheney could not possibly allow the prosecution of "The anthrax killer,"
They have now admitted that they believe one of their own scientists sent the stuff, mainly to Democrats and innocents. They could not survive discovery on a court case, no matter which of their own is being prosecuted.

Say Cheney discovers the CIA is about to indict and prosecute Ivins. Can they sit still and allow that case to proceed? After all they've done, would they refrain from another "suicide" to put a stop to it?

How do you think the CIA wold feel if the Imperial Guard snatched their closed case out from under them?

Or is all the certainty about the ID of the killer BS concocted after the fact by the CIA to cover up a rogue operation?

2. Justice Department.
The FBI investigates, as part of DoJ, but it is the DoJ that prosecutes.

4. I'll bet cheney is behind the whole anthrax thing.
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 10:55 AM by mwb970
Every foul, evil act of the criminal bush administration is eventually found to have emanated from cheney. Iraq, illegal spying, torture, muzzled science, Plame, Gonzogate, and on and on and on. It's just a matter of time before we begin to see links between the anthrax non-investigation and the Dick.

7. Of course Cheney was behind it.
We know now that this is Cheney's MO. What really made the whole thing highly suspicious was 1) Anthrax being sent to only Democratic Senators and liberals and 2) it was entirely too soon after 9/11 to be a coincidence.

9. What puzzles me
Is that they knew the genetic makeup of this particular Anthrax strain. Given that I am a microbiologist myself, that is not very time consuming to figure out.

They knew exactly which lab this Anthrax strain came from and it took them 7 years to pin this on a psychopath in that lab?

I say somebody in that lab was just itching to talk given how close we are to the elections. ;-)
