Me thinks something is abrewing in Congress.....are they going to go after Bush & Co?

Between Waxman's letter seeking Fitz to speak before committee and Valerie Plame coming forward to testify next week, something seems abrewing....

Randi Rhodes went on the other day for hours about what Congress would need to do, if they were to go after this administration. I think she knows something is going on, but can't say. She kept on stressing that I's needed dotting & t's needed crossing, and just be patient and be happy. There is a feeling in the air...

And, what is that saying, it rarely is the action, but the COVER-UP that brings the powerful down...

I don't know. I just don't know.

2. It is a repulsive smell, isn't it?

A mix between rotted eggs & rotted fish mixed with a pile of sweaty socks....But, much worse. Putrid.

3. Can't say what's doin' up on the Hill. But I am glad people like
Congressman Waxman are looking into things. It's high time.

If a few BushCo profiles get muddied up, so much the better. These people betrayed the public trust and the piper must be paid.

Let's roll out as many investigations as we can squeeze in.

6. Impeachment is more likely now...
My read on these things is that when something happens in politics, it tends to stay bottled up for a long time, until that thing happens and everything blows in their faces all at once.

That's how it happened with Watergate - the break-ins and other corruption stayed under the radar for a long time, then the investigations made progress. Cox demanded the tapes of Nixon's conversations, Nixon refused to provide them, then fired Cox and other attorneys in the Saturday Night Massacre, then the blowback from that hit so hard that Nixon did face impeachment and resigned.

Same thing with the Foley scandal. It stayed under the radar for years. Other Congressmen knew about it, and the FBI knew about it, and even the press knew about it, but nothing happened, until that AIM chat leaked. Just three days later (IIRC), Foley resigned, public opinion of the GOP declined, and the Democrats handed them their asses in the election.

We're coming close to that breaking point with Bush and Cheney. It's still under the radar for most people, but we've got multiple Congressional investigations going on right now into different places where the administration broke the law. And the administration came out of the Libby trial smelling like a sewer, so they can't really take much more in the way of scandals. If the Iraq war deteriorates some more, or Congress finds some new, especially vile thing done by Cheney, Gonzales or Bush, it may very well blow up in their faces.

But I don't know. It's very likely nothing will happen to push them out. But if it does, it will happen very, very quickly.

8. Maybe the firing of the lawyers has added fuel to the fire...
I suspect there is more to replacing these lawyers than we know.

9. Not to mention Walter Reed.
Unfortunately, there's so much disgust in this country with corruption that I think a lot are shrugging their shoulders, and walking off into the sunset.

At the time of Watergate, people of this country were more engaged.

Now, it's hard to give a shit.

10. ,As awful as Cheney and Bush have been, the Republican Congress and
the corporate media and corporate military (and some Dem Congresspeople?) are equally responsible.

Always remember - one Clinton lie.
Under Cheney and Bush - the lies of death, debt, torment, torture, disappearances, reversals of benefits, and the stupendous loss of rights. and privacy.

Blame Congress and corporations.
