Mayans to 'purify' sacred site after Bush visit
Mayan leaders announced that priests will purify a sacred archaeological site to eliminate "bad spirits" after US President George W. Bush visits next week.

"That a person like (Bush), with the persecution of our migrant brothers in the United States, with the wars he has provoked, is going to walk in our sacred lands, is an offense for the Mayan people and their culture," Juan Tiney, the director of a national association of indigenous people and peasant farmers, said Thursday.

18. My thoughts too. We need all of the shamans from all over
the Americas to perform ceremonies in the White House after BushCo leaves to rid it of residual evil. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to do Congress too for good measure.

9. Perhaps they can consult the Mayan priests on how to get rid of the vermin once and for all-
"bad spirit" is such a nice, polite way to describe him. I wish they would simply not let him in. Period.

19. this story has several different connotations
besides the headline you posted, there is one that states

From Reuters (3/30/06):

Four priests of the ancient Mayan religion held a purification ceremony to rid Bush of “demons and evil” in a square in downtown Cancun, some 10 miles (16 km) from the plush hotel strip where the leaders met.

and

Cancun, Mexico (APE) - Tragically, four Mayan priests were killed today in an ancient purification ceremony gone horribly wrong. They were killed at the summit of the Kukulcan Pyramid in Chichen Itza, Mexico while performing an ancient ritual in honor of visiting president George Bush which would purge him of "demons and evil".

The distraught wife of one of the priests later spoke through an interpreter and said: "I had a very bad feeling about this last night, and saw it happening in my dream. I begged my husband not to participate, but he insisted. Clearly they had no idea what they had gotten into."

Witnesses stated that there was a rapid appearance of a huge airborn Demon when the ceremony began. It was observed to suck the life-forces instantly from the priests involved, and then, just as rapidly disappeared.

A photographer for the Mexican newspaper Inquisidor Nationale reportedly snapped a photo of the incident, but the authenticity was in doubt as of this post.

21. I feel this same way whenever he visits Mississippi
to do photo ops in Katrina-dom. It's hard to do an exorcism of the whole coast, but I did perform an exorcism of our main building when he visited the volunteer camp where I was staying last year.
