Reality check: The GOP congress will STILL not hold the
administration accountable. They learned absolutley nothing from the 2006 election. They are still corruprt shills for the president. They are part of the abuse in use of our military. Their prolonged denial will flush them in 2008.

1. and likely cost them the presidency as well... as they continue to
tarnish the entire party.

Unless things change significantly - our (dem) job in the primaries isn't about "electability" it is really about choosing the person who would be most capable of digging us out of jr's hole created in the past 8 years - because who we elect in the primaries is nearly a shoein in November. Thanks to a great part of the GOP in congress continuing to carry water for the unpopular bushco.

3. Bush and Cheney are killing the Republican party.
I mean come on, how many people are going to vote for more Republicans after the crap we have put up with for so many years? And just think of how many scandals have yet to emerge in the last 2 years of this wretched, pathetic administration! There's at least three going on right now, and no reason to believe this is the end of them.

An interesting topic to begin discussing now: will single-party rule by Democrats in charge be any better than it was with Republicans?

4. Absolutely Correct.
We are being held hostage by a handful of Repugs in the Senate along with Joe Lieberman.

Until Lindsey Graham, John McCain, John Warner, Mitch McConnell, Trent Lott, Saxby Chambliss, etc. etc. etc. stop protecting the Bush/Cheney criminal government, the bloodshed and fraud will continue unabated.

What the Democrats in Congress CAN do is continue with investigations and hearings and open the windows to let some fresh air in on the stink that is the Bush/Cheney government. It is the PUBLIC that will have to pressure the Repug enablers in the Senate to do their Constitutional duty and remove these criminals from power.
