House Appropriations Chair David Obey (Dem., Wisc.) ran into woman in the hallway in Washington recently and ended up yelling at her and her friends, accusing them of "smoking something that's not legal" if they disagreed with him, and denouncing "idiot liberals."

The woman, Tina Richards, introduced herself to Obey as the mother of a Marine about to depart for his third tour of Iraq, and as someone who has tried to communicate with Obey but received no response. Then she…

There was no need to insult people in order to make his point, and most especially to insult the mother of a Marine who has served in Iraq. He should be ashamed and needs to be reminded that without the votes of us liberals he can kiss his seat in the House goodbye.

Just like back in the day, if a kid thought that "Civil Rights" and "Equality for Women" made sense, or if they thought that Vietnam's "slave draft" was a bunch of Bullshit and that Nixon's shadow cabal was a bunch of crooks .. it was OBVIOUSLY a sign that they'd been smoking that "Devil's Weed" . ..

So, if you are against the MURDER of +600,000 INNOCENT Iraqi men, women, and children in an ILLEGAL "Shock & Awe" Invasion and subsequent OCCUPATION . . . not to mention not being thrilled about footing the BILL (plus COMPOUND INTEREST) for this MESS-O-POTAMIA . . . that was ALL based on "cooked Intelligence" by a bunch of rich dysfunctional frat brats at AIPAC and PNAC. . .it is clearly a sign of an LIBERAL "ID-10-T" error code brought on by toking on that Harry J. Anslinger's "Wildwood Flower", kidz . . .

I think Obey is way off on this and his logic is convoluted. It will continue to go like this until the funding is cut off:

"The surge" is going to be bigger, longer, broader, and more violent than promised.

In the last 12 hours we have reporting that "the surge" is going to be bigger (US approves more troops for Iraq,) longer (Buildup in Iraq Needed Into ’08, U.S. General Says,) broader ("additional U.S. forces will be sent to areas outside the capital,") and more violent (U.S.: Iraqi insurgent attacks intensifying) than promised.

Not that I'm surprised by any of these, but the real story is that all of these represent a planning recognition that what was proposed will not work.

Nobody wrote that story.

I just started this thread and my OP has a link to Tina's website. She is a determined mom. She son has severe PTSD and has already served 2 tours and has been called back for a third tour in Iraq. He is such a neat kid! But he needs help and the VA won't give it to him. Tina has basically given up her life to stay in DC until the war is ended.

BTW, there is a link at her website to donate so she can stay in DC and keep up her fight to end the war.
