MSNBC dropping Rita COSBY despite vocal cord surgery & heroic Anna Nicole coverage!!1

Wasn't Rick KAPLAN her champion/sponsor, with him screaming at Keith on her debut for not playing up her introduction more as he signed off ("I won't care if you don't come to work tomorrow!!1")? Yet as KAPLAN goes to CBS/Katie, we hear he is a "BIG LIB and FRIEND OF BILL!!!1" from the winguts.

As a farewell tribute to Rita, I've gotta say again, that for sheer ENERGY in pursuing leads, ya gotta hand it to her. She goes after the biggest tabloid splashes, has interviewed or tried to, the biggest criminals---MILOSEVIC by phone, Son of Sam and McVEIGH by pen-pal letters. If she can't get the criminal himself, she will worm her way into the FAMILIES, will get the siblings, the step-father, the neighbor, the DANGED DOG!!1 She trudged her way into the Utah landfill when the body was missing, into the Pacific or wherever the PETERSEN wife and child were. A DUer once (long ago) said in reply to gigs at her, "Leave Rita alone. She started out at my local station and she is a sweet girl."

On Edit: I remember when she out-Geraldo-ed Whorealdo. When he cravenly flipped to Faux, and had to lick the O'LOOFAH and all the Faux hosts, O'LOOFAH asked him, "What do you bring to (Faux) that we don't already have?" He was going to do an hour after Rita's hour, both of them almost always on the same topics. Once he settled-in, he began to show annoyance at how she was always out-hustling him. During the (PETERSEN?) hysteria, both of them were sitting side by side promo-ing their show. It was clear that Rita had gotten a more-inside guest, and Geraldo was STEAMING. He wouldn't even LOOK in her direction. At one point she had to break the tension and she reached over and cupped his knee. He looked like he wanted to DECK her.

That "April 1" date DOES make me wonder, though.

RITA Cosby sounds less raspy following recent vocal-cord surgery, but MSNBC is still going to drop her when her contract expires on April 1. The cable network had no comment, but insiders insist the host, who has been diligently covering the Anna Nicole Smith story, is out. Cosby has been presenting daytime specials since MSNBC canceled her prime-time show, "Live & Direct," last summer.

using sandpaper on her vocal chords. I have said some not-so-nice things about her, but I finally realize this is a person trying to make a buck. What her qualifications are for being a cable anchor escape me, but if a network offers to pay her for whatever she does, who can blame her. Somewhere, sometime, somehow the era of infotainment must come to an end. "News" just isn't news anymore; it has become soap opera.
