FIRST fly (as in Dipteran) of the season! There's still snow everywhere but the temp is in the 40's the microclimate must be over 55 F against the brick wall or it'd never be able to fly(as in the sky) in the first place.
Fellow Ice-Blue Dems this is just as sure a sign of spring as the first Robin.

Robins and Cardinals here in Oklahoma during the ice storm in early February. Both my daffodils and hyacinths were up at the time. Both are now in full bloom. Leaves are opening up on some of the trees. And it looks like I will need to mow in probably a couple of weeks. Wierd weather here.

7. Rapping at my chamber door. Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!" |

Rather fitting that I should finish that line!
I think it's the last of the real bad cold here in NH. It's only 17 degrees but the sun is beginning to do its job. :-)

8. And as a lover of poetry you will appreciate that Mud Time is just about here. |
|
...that special time of year when the snow is melting while spring rains are falling and the first 3-4 inches of ground are thawed but everything deeper it is still frozen...it's just glorious until you step off the pavers.

you can sink six inches in the mud during mud season. Sometimes they close the road to thru traffic it's so bad. I think it's worse than snow. We had such a strange winter this year, I wonder what kind of a mud season we'll get.
