Repukes just tried and failed to take the Davis-Bacon provisions out of a bill

Title: To amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to authorize appropriations for State water pollution control revolving funds, and for other purposes.

Latest Major Action: 3/8/2007 Rules Committee Resolution H. Res. 229 Reported to House. Rule provides for consideration of H.R. 720 with 1 hour of general debate. Previous question shall be considered as ordered without intervening motions except motion to recommit with or without instructions. Measure will be considered read. Specified amendments are in order. All points of order against consideration of the bill are waived except those arising under clause 9 or 10 of rule XXI. The amendment in the nature of a substitute recommended by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure now printed in the bill, modified by the amendment printed in part A of the report of the Committee of the Whole.

That's the bill, Pukes Baker of Louisiana and King of Iowa put up an amendment to strike the Davis-Bacon provisions from the bill. It got smacked down 280-140

1. Davis-Bacon info below for others like me who had vague
knowledge but couldn't place the exact words...

The Davis-Bacon Wage Determinations contained on this web site are wage determinations issued by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Davis-Bacon and related Acts. The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor determines prevailing wage rates to be paid on federally funded or assisted construction projects. It is the responsibility of the federal agency that funds or financially assists Davis-Bacon covered construction projects to ensure that the proper Davis-Bacon wage determination(s) is/are applied to such construction contracts(s) (emphasis in original) Davis-Bacon at GPO, (Government Printing Office)
