No, I'm not surprised, just like I would be surprised to find a couple missing hens if the fox were guarding the hen house.

People who are convinced they need to get information are not the people to decide whether they should get it or not. These agents obviously believe they needed the information, but no one else was able to review the proof they did before they received the information.

I also noticed how many of these things that have been used. In the CNN.com story it says they went as high as 56,000 requests per year.

The story also said more than 1/2 of the people investigated with National Security Letters were AMERICAN CITIZENS!

I just don't buy that there are that many terrorists in America, especially terrorists with American citizenship.

How many innocent people have had their records turned over to the FBI? How many have had their lives turned upside down?

This sounds like a massive abuse of a power the FBI never should have had.
