Massachusetts students launch "NO PROM FOR DARFUR"

(WBZ) A group of students at the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School are putting their prom dreams aside to help end the genocide in Darfur.

Students at the Cape Cod school have launched "No Prom for Darfur" - a campaign that donates the hundreds of dollars students would spend on prom dresses, suits, hair and limos to those fighting for their lives in Darfur.

Instead of a typical prom, students who donate their prom dollars to the western Sudan region will attend a party that will help raise awareness about the humanitarian disaster.

According to SaveDarfur.com, at least 400,000 people have been killed in Darfur, more than two million people have been forced out of their homes and more than 3.5 million men, women and children rely on international aid for survival.

For just $25, students in the Cape Cod and Massachusetts areas can attend the event, which will be held at Cape Cod Community College on Friday.

that they are liberal, we automatically know that these kids are. How? Because conservative, republican kids wouldn't think of giving up their prom for this kind of awareness event.

In fact, I bet the republican parents are going crazy that their precious students are being denied the chance to drink and raise hell on prom night. I bet they are even having an "alternative prom" so their poor kiddies aren't deprived of their prom night--particularly not to help the "brown people"--the macacas--the Africans.

It would be a great way to show the kids how small actions can lead to wider awareness and multiply their results.
