Coalition commander in northern Iraq seeking more troops
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=233102

The commander of coalition forces in northern Iraq says he has requested more forces to help prevent Baghdad-based insurgents from fleeing to neighboring Diyala Province.

The general reported the request during a news conference via satellite with reporters at the Pentagon Friday.

Major General Benjamin Mixon says he has already reinforced his units in Diyala, and has asked multi-national headquarters in Baghdad for more troops.

"I have moved additional forces and capabilities into Diyala over the last couple of weeks as we began larger offensive operations in Baquba and other portions of the surrounding area," he said. "Could I use more forces in Diyala? No question about it."

The need for more and more and more troops in this surge
and its so in the face of Americans who voted Republican Congress out so troops would leave iraq only to see Bush increase troops

this is freakin madness It so reminds me of Vietnam when we were losing and they increased more troops only for them to die in larger numbers

1. The only purpose of the "surge" is to increase rather than decrease the # of troops.
This way we move in the opposite direction of getting out.

Bush knows that once any significant decrease in troops occurs, it will have irresistible momentum and the war will end on his watch, since this is what everyone wants anyway. That he cannot allow since then the whole disaster will be unequivocally his, whereas otherwise, the spinmeisters can try to blame it on the next president.

2. And the only reason is to make bush look good, by saying he won.
Since this man has been an absolute disaster in any undertaking he has been involved in, he is going all out to make this one his "win". He dones not care how many innocent Americans and Iraqi he has to kill to do it. The ought to take the whole bush family and set them down outside the "green zone".

3. The National Guard is now only 12% armed and effective
for national emergencies. Where is W going to get the troops and equipment?
