I saw this on a wingnut protester's sign last week (in a photo). Win what? Seems every soldier fighting this LOSING war LOSES a limb, sight, life, etc.

1. The longer we stay, the more we lose. |
|
There is no "winning". All we can decide is the magnitude of our losses.

this person only care about his nationalistic pride. He is the kind that when he talks about war "deaths" is perfectly ok because "the enemy is bad and we are good, and good people die in war". Betcha his kids aren't fighting...

I think I saw the photo. A head banded nazi looking guy with one of those black "look I am tough" biker t-shirts.

|

5. Yup - they are laying the groundwork for the mythology of defeat. |
|
Too bad there are not a passel of MIAs to elevate symbolically up a flagpole as well. This is an old rightwing trick, but it works every time to keep their base believing and to rally their troops for the next political battle.

4. I forget if I thought of the term "war fetishist" on my own |
|
or if I stole it from someone else. These people simply enjoy war. I think to them it means a strong America on the march, not takin' no shit from nobody. Bush could declare war on Prince Edward Island this afternoon and they'd be frickin' overjoyed. I actually don't think that it's about killin' ay-rabs or anything like that, so much as it's about the Glorious Might of America. It's the only way they know of to feel strong.

9. The wingnuts are either incapable or unwilling to think |
|
Their minds are closed shut. Your question is exactly right -- win what?

12. Funny how that happens . . . |
|
The slogan on MY sign on January 27th read:
TELL US, Dear Leader: WHAT does "WINNING" MEAN?

where your signature line comes from. I know I've heard it a hundred times. It's not John Goodman in "Matinee," is it?

One of the most underrated movies of all time. LOVE that film. Since I'm into that era of gimmick cinema, that was the holy grail of sorts, plus the story was great. I had to get that DVD from an independent vendor.

Terribly underrated. Goodman was perfect in that. It's cute and charming without being saccharine.

16. It'd be more honest of them to depict a pair of crutches instead of a ribbon. |
|
After all, a yellow ribbon is symbolic of 'coming home' not staying there and losing limbs.
