New York Yankees to pay for Funerals of Bronx Fire Tragedy

Statement from George M. Steinbrenner




The horrible tragedy in the Bronx which has resulted in the loss of life of nine of our neighbors has touched our hearts and those of all New Yorkers. The New York Yankees have tremendous sympathy for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives or have been injured. We hope that by paying for the funerals our assistance will be able to ease some of their burden.

The Yankees will pay also to fly 4 of the victims to Mali for burial-

2. George has a big heart

I spent most of my Yankee fan life despising him. A few years ago, I realized I would miss him when he was gone, mostly because his ilk is slowly but surely being replaced by coporations and new money fools like Dan Snyder who make George look like Marcus Aurelius. Gestures like this only reinforce that feeling.
