CNN must have decided the game is up with Bush.
Edited on Sat Mar-10-07 10:45 PM by glarius
Since he went on his South American "tour", I've noticed that CNN is showing all the demonstrations against him everywhere he goes. This is a big change from what they had been doing before on other trips abroad. I remember when he came to Canada, there were big demonstrations against him in Ottawa, our capital and other Canadian cities, which I'm sure were not shown on American TV. The same thing when he went to European countries. Everywhere he went there were massive anti-Bush demonstrations which we saw on our networks but for the most part were not shown on CNN or other U.S.A. networks. Poor George......even his media pals have abandoned him....LOL.

P.S....One thing I hope the American people are aware of is that the people in Canada and other countries are not anti the American people but we are anti George Bush and his buddies. So often when the U.S. media DOES bother to report on the demonstrations, they call them anti-American.

1. What really galls me is
the way everyone who basically gave Bush a free ride for the last 6 years is now distancing themselves from him so that they can claim that they didn't support him. Especially the members of Congress.

9. I think it could happen anywhere....people who do not follow politics as
closely as we on the DU are fooled by coniving people who pretend to be what they are not. I could be wrong, but I think that's what happened in your country. Most of your population, like people everywhere, do not really follow politics and when people like Karl Rove run their manipulative and dishonest campaigns, they are fooled into voting for unscrupulous people. :)

15. It's scary how easy it is to manipulate people --
and to steal elections. I do blame the MSM, though, for standing by -- mostly in silence -- while this has been happening. Imagine where we might be now without the Internet? I think it definitely made a difference in the last election.

There have been some prize "spun" candidates in Canada as well, who say one thing then do the opposite once they're in power -- fortunately, a minority government is a bit easier to keep in check.

Most Canadians are aware of how close the US vote in 2000 was -- and a fair number also know about the questions being raised re: electoral fraud. (It's still mentioned from time to time on CBC radio and TV.) Besides, especially in border towns one can see vehicles with US plates, bearing "Don't blame me, I voted for Gore!" stickers -- far more of these than pro-Bush ones! A couple of months ago, while I was shopping downtown, I complimented a US visitor on her anti-war lapel pin. There were four other people in the store at the time, all of whom smiled at her or uttered supportive comments -- and she burst into tears, saying that she's gotten so much verbal abuse at home that she sometimes hides the pin in her pocket.

29. I was thinking of how Harper got in by pretending to be what he's not when I
posted this. I think there are still many Canadians who don't yet realize what he really stands for. The American woman you spoke of must have been happy to hear a supportive voice. I have American relatives who are heart-broken too at what has happened since Bush was elected. :)

of a former President who got stuck in a young boy arrested development time warp - when they whooshed him into power as a nominee. Along with Dick Cheney.

However, I think millions of Americans don't know what he's done to our Constitution and Bill of RIghts. I feel privileged to have been interested enough (read desparate) to be able to learn what they have done while we watched it in progress - helpless because we learned that the two of them and their teams are representatives for their higher rulers - the barons, foundations, corporations and we learned that our legislature, corporate media, and psy-op specialists paved the way.

We're not out of this yet whether the rest of the world is able to see it while we can't - or not. Way too many of our own people here are sleeping or in denial. Way too many are still owned by the corporate media, hard wired patriotism, traditions of trust, successfull realtiy magicians and framers and the ever present hot reverends and country club republicans. And stocks in the products of perpetual war.

You said it perfectly.

I felt the same way about his dad. I knew what this jackass was made of. It's nice to be here, as we are all so likeminded. And I don't mean that in a righteous way. The Obey threads are testament to how willing we are to understand people with difference who are trying to make this a better country. I may have been aware, but Bush made me engaged.

36. Interesting that you mention that.
The last time I was abroad, a few months ago, I had several people ask me a rather innocuous question. "So what do you think of what's happening in the USA?" All were quite relieved to find that I was totally against the actions of this administration and laughed when I called Republicans an organized crime syndicate.

It's amazing how, just a few short years ago, Bill Clinton gave us such a positive image...and how George Bush has trashed the US brand with the people of the world.

domination are not being fulfilled. They happily funded and the PNAC cabal and pulled every lever they controlled to get that gang of criminals into control of the US State. Now they are backing away and seeking some other criminal to back in hopes of achieving that goal in some other way.
