Faux News - Megyn Kelly regarding Michelle: "...bluish-green is not the color for these women."

http://www.jossip.com/megyn-kelly-closet-a-super-racist-20080827/

Megyn Kelly is the worst kind of moron: tthe blond, perky, Republican kind. America's Newsroom is only watchable because it's fun to see all the sexual tension between Bill Hemmer and Kelly, but Hemmer needs to put a ball-gag on that woman before they're both axed for being too racist — even for Fox News.

First she started in with that baby's mamma crap with the Obamas, and today she made these awesome comments about a fashion show the DNC speeches:

"I stand by my comments on the Michelle Obama dress…bluish-green is not the color for these women."

Well, at least she said "these women" instead of "those women," or "you people." Little known fact: It's not racism if you change a letter. Semantics are tricky that way.

48. A little context might help
When she said "these women" she was referring to the women speaking in front of a big blue background. They had been discussing dress color in that context. It was not a slight against black women at all.

46. The Blue Background
That link also mentions that the clarification was that Megyn Kelly was referring to "these women" as being the women who were speaking in front of a big blue background. Hence, the issue of the color of the dress. She may have meant all the women speaking in front of that background, and not been talking about black women at all.

Just trying to be fair here.

66. To be fair, remember this is the same woman who was involved in the "Obama's baby Mama" flap.
It was Kelly who was interviewing Malkin about Michelle O. when this appeared on the chyron:

Malkin actually tried to DEFEND this. At least FOX Noise apologized for it.

Perhaps without that incident and the others on her network ("terrorist fist jab" anyone?) people would cut her a little slack and believe that the blue screen, not black skin, was behind her comment about what these women shouldn't wear. Without seeing the full clip it's impossible for me to know which version to believe, but the pattern on Fox Noise makes me inclined to believe "these women" was just a cleaned up version of "those people."

She works for a network dedicated to slanting the news to the right under the Orwellian banner of "fair and balanced," and the network with a clear history of cheap shots at Democrats. I hold her and all the other well-paid on-air bearers of the FOX message equally responsible.

I guess she must have been referring to classy, successful, intelligent, highly educated and beautiful women when she made that comment about Mrs. Obama. Sure....That must have been what she meant. LOL!! I think men watch Faux News just for the remote chance that they may see up the skirts of the ditzy barbie dolls that they have on that network. No Dem should watch. 53. Sorry, but you are mistaken
I did a little research on the topic. I googled "Megyn Kelly these women" and read about the issue on various blogs. She and the host were referring to an earlier discussion of fashion and dress color, and the issue of the blue background. The reference Kelly made to "these women" meant those women speaking in front of the blue background. i.e., a blue-green dress was not a good color in front of such a background. She was not referring to black women at all, despite many people jumping to that conclusion.

Your "research" is just making excuses for repuke talk that is just wrong.

How can you defend a comment like this as if you, as a male, would know/understand what "that" woman meant??

If she really meant it to be about talking in front of a blue background, she would have/should have explained her comment so people who do not know about TV backgrounds to know that is what she was talking about.

Get Real!

55. It's called truth and honesty and fairness
It has nothing to do with me being male, or "defending" a comment, or making excuses. It's about explaining a comment that many people are clearly misinterpreting, perhaps by accident or perhaps willfully.

To call someone a racist, including references to KKK robes, is a serious matter, and should only be done in those circumstances where it is warranted. The term "racist" is thrown out so much on this site that once in a while, I have to take issue and ask for proof before such epithets are so casually put on someone.

In this case, reading about the issue in context (as opposed to a selective edit) it is clear to me that Kelly was not making any kind of slight against black women. She was referring to the women speaking in front of the blue background. It was not about race at all. But based on your tone, you are ready to assume, without any facts, that Kelly is a rabid racist.

Edited on Thu Aug-28-08 08:56 AM by cmt928
and as I said before, any intelligent person would have/should have explained the reference so the VIEWERS would understand!

You are the all-knowing "In this case"??? People on TV in this day and age KNOW the impact of their words and should have the savy to properly word or properly explain what they said.

And yes, being male is a SLIGHT disadvantage to understanding what a woman meant in some cases. Don't act as if your "fairness, truth and honesty" is the whole truth in this matter!

And as to MY TONE - where the hell did I ever call her a rabid racist? I am offended by her words towards women, their appearance and what they wear WHICH AFFECTS NOBODY.

Republican blondes. Like negative ads, it works. You're not going to listen to the concerns people here have about her comments because you like the, as Samanthea Bee so hilariously noted, "XXX, down and dirty Fox sluts." Fox knows who you are and that's why she has a job. This country can go to hell as long as you can turn in to see your breathing blow-up doll talk trash through a thick layer of lip gloss.

59. LOL
Very funny stuff! Thanks!

Does no one want to deal with facts here, or are people merely content to rely on innuendo, selective edits, and personal bias? Heck, I don't know this Kelly lady (although she is awfully pretty) or what is in her soul. But in this case, the comment was about the blue background, not about black women.

The concerns that peope are expressing on here? Of course I listen to concerns. Saying "these women" can easily sound like an offensive term. But in this case, it wasn't an offensive comment because she wasn't talking about black women! I listened to the concerns, and I explained why those concerns were misplaced.

Forgive me for actually looking into an issue before spouting out cries of racism.

But you really think you are morally superior to those who think you are defending and making excuses for a offensive comment by saying Forgive me for actually looking into an issue before spouting out cries of racism.

IF you researched it, you will see that Kelly did not explain that the comment was about Michele standing in front of a blue background... it was the other person on the show who said that Michele "blended in with the background". WELL IF YOU LOOK AT ANY PICTURES, SHE DID NOT BLEND IN WITH THE BACKGROUND.

And your comment But in this case, it wasn't an offensive comment because she wasn't talking about black women!

I stated she offended me as a woman, so by your point of view, it doesn't count that I was offended if I am not black????"

It was a bigoted comment towards other women, not racist! (bigoted means a person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from theirs) - those comments do NOT BELONG ON THE NEWS

Sorry, but I don't share your view that this was an offensive comment. I will, however, agree that discussion of fashion does not belong on the news. Then again, most of the idiotic commentary on TV doesn't belong on the news.

64. You undercut your rational points by mentioning your
crush on the blonde Republican. And this is exactly why these hordes of blonde fembots have overtaken conservative commentary. The drooling men who don't care what they say, they just love to watch their lips move.
I'm not sure you belong in a discussion of news commentary. Maybe a discussion of soft porn?

65. Soft porn?
You are cracking me up today! LOL.

I believe I have been discussing the issue on the merits, and based on the facts. To the contrary, it is the so-called offended ones who are jumping to conclusions without analyzing the facts.

Are you saying you want to discuss soft porn? You have to shoot me a private email so we don't offend the other posters! (just kidding)

68. You've proven yourself
much too good for the likes of the conservative blondes. Give them up. The brunette liberal women are more fun anyway.

69. More fun?
I've never been able to correlate political leanings and the fun-factor in women. I've known some conservative women who do the darnest things!

72. Jill Biden looks like a fun person.
Not all blondes are GOP. And not all brunettes are liberal.

Just sayin...

73. OK. Got me there
I'm a redhead. And we redheads actually are all liberals. It's part of the DNA.

74. I think to be more accurate...
"It's called truth and honesty and fairness"

I think to be more accurate, it would merely be called "interpretation".

67. "These women"?
Oh brother.

She looked gorgeous. But then, she always does. I love that color, and it looked great on her. And on Hillary, too actually. (More flattering than orange - but I hate orange anyway!)
