Bought gas lately?
It's over $3.00 again. $3.17 for premium out here. Up 50 cents in the last few weeks. What's the "shortfall" all about this time?

15. Yep. Election's over, why do you think gas prices are going up?
They probably waited until enough of the new Democratic members of Congress have been bought so they don't have to deal with investigations of their price gouging.

4. Well, according to the Calif. Energy Commission, for those who
live in this state:

"...Gasoline prices normally begin to increase around March as refiners switch from winter blends to a summer blend..."

Blend, shmend. :eyes:

20. Why the hell does it cost any more to switch from winter to summer blends
I can't fathom why the switch would cost anything. They change the formulation and produce it. It's not as if it's any more difficult to produce one blend rather than another. I think it's complete bullshit but if that's what it takes to push fuel-efficient cars, so be it. Of course, the only car manufacturers who will truly suffer are the "big 3," because they don't give a rat's ass about fuel economy.

5. It's a completely manipulated market.
Both supply AND demand!! Demand is 'adjusted' when they take price up to $3.00 plus, THEN when it comes back down we are GRATEFUL to buy it at 2.75!! How they manipulate supply needs no explanation.

$2.48 here in Asheville.

6. Good question.
I think we knew this was going to happen. Friday's USA TODAY, Money section, had a story about the raising gas prices and they blamed it on increased consumption. It was kind of sad, at the top of the page they where pimping the new Jeep Wrangler--it's bigger of course, gets something like19 mpg. Kind of explained it all.

17. Might be close to the time ...
to cull the World's population and make a wonderful, technological Utopia for the Elite, ey? There will be plenty of oil, if oil supply is any real problem right now. Somehow, I wonder why we see little in the way of concise, meaningful measures to curtail energy consumption, (and they don't have to all be painful) in current policies or news. That should be telling.

What? CULLING? Unheard of you say? History says it happens, (over and over and over) but it is too controversial for anyone in his "right mind" (read: Media informed reality) to even entertain. But, I would sure want the topic to be treated that way, wouldn't you? We have to have faith in the basic goodness of Humanity you know, peace, love, dove!

The funniest thing about how people perceive today's wealthy, and I think it is mistaken, and a way to totally avoid transparency, is to believe that they really care so much about MONEY itself, (which is now just digital manipulation at the higher levels) that they can't do without US because of that. I mean, it serves them well for us to think that their greed is really the issue, when it might be our own greed, (both large and small) that keeps US playing their game. Oh, power and sex, even World dominance, might be other reasons we apply to the Elite, but I think that is merely another smokescreen -- a symbol that diverts the real issues. Yes, there may be other issues involved, ones that have emerged from the past conquests of land, money, sex, and power. And they may be more primal and security-based than we imagine. In fact, they may have huge implications for the World's people if they continue to be executed at the current rate and without any realistic barriers or restrictions.

Money, today, in my opinion, is simply a tool by which they now drain the commoners and serfs of the kind of access and resources that could threaten their power base. Keep in mind that today's currency is fiat. It has, literally, nothing behind it. It is more like a story those who control it tell and we see the story move us deeper and deeper into the dungeons of credit debt.

What is tangible is what is real, and their, (the top 1-5%) overall holdings of tangibles, (real estate, goods, materials, resources, etc.) grows by huge amounts now, every day under the flag of the Unholy War of the Corporate Crusades.

Is it too controversial to say that the above, seemingly sensationalist scenario could get very tempting when you have enough power, money, and technology to pull it off?

Now, file that under paranoid delusions and let it go. It just comes from too much study and investigation of what's really going on behind the curtain, for too many years. Talking to too many folks who have come to the same conclusions and concerns also reinforces that viral kind of madness. You have to quesiton the sanity of anyone who bothers to do that, anyway. You really do! How could you go on with day to day life really knowing what's going on? It would be too hard ... too crushing ... too overwhelming. And so, we have our medications and media to prevent the emergence and to soften the blows. We must carry on.

19. there's nothing stopping us
from bypassing politics altogether and simply forming self-help networks
the main myth that ptb rely on is that humans are too selfish to get along and without the state it would be chaos
Truth is that actually humans can and do get along. That actually trusting someone else is a new experience is telling, I still find Ebay exciting for this reason
I think a non-political revolution of sorts is entirely possible
I think if all a 'movement' did was just people networking and it produced stability and community, the governments would have to take notice
Political movements are a thing of the past, no ideology works we know that now
I feel this kind of movement is inevitable and will spontaneously occur.. 2+2=4 forever!!!

23. I totally agree!
You have the right kind of grassroots idea. Everything is there at our disposal if we can, collectively get off the crack-style additions that have been inserted into us since childhood, poor and middle-class alike.

But first, we need a stronger basis, a cornerstone if you will, that transcends the realm of mere opinion and easily managed and skillfully refuted propaganda that serves as damage control to transparency. With that kind of knowledge as both a potent infusion of verifiable inspiration and and infusion of enthusiastic, survival-based response, almost any combined effort could topple the empire fomenting insidiously around us. So many feel it, see it, and understand it, but so much is in place to distract them from that essential epiphany.

For example, a careful and devoted reading of the following comments and the article it refers to, will for some, be their very first glimpse and a shocking initiation to the concrete and looming rabbit hole that -- for the sake of complacent conformity and short-term -- survival-based rewards, is best left alone, ignored, and forgotten.

For those who want to see the rabbit hole and dare to venture into it, there is no shortage of facts and information to be found that can only take you, personally, deeper and deeper, to the point where there can be no turning back, ever again. That is the risk. That is the potential of revelation and truth. That is your choice. Take it or leave it. Reap whatever rewards and results come form one or the other. Above all, muster what you can to choose wisely for yourself, your family and loved ones, and for the future of our beloved prodgeny and inter-connected species. Maybe the idea of the results of your choice now will have a very long-term chain of results for which you can find some sense of responsibility and even pride about?

http://sensiblyeclectic.com/news/index.php/mainsite/2007/03/10/dillon_read_aamp_co_inc

From that link, (a very long, but concentrated and correlated string of observations and facts) you go down the rabbit hole with no way to get out again. You then are left to quesiton, think about, and incorporate the other, easily discerned and referenced relationships to what has enveloped you in a thickening veil of pure delusions in place of facts that are becoming a mummy-like raccoon of passive, but well-rewarded acceptance. Some of us can easily accept death as a part of life and being born, no matter what our persuasion, but it is absurd and unconscionable to accept a form of mass-induced, opiate like death while still alive and existing. Consciousness is not meant to be imprisoned or used as a means to imprison oneself in exchange for pure, basic, undeniable requirements for physical survival and the nurturing and protection of our offspring.

I hope to meet the bravest among you in that vortex of the rabbit hole where the ordinary delusions and illusions foisted upon us in the name of our own benefit and survival are revealed to be the prison walls that limit our true, inalienable potential, and deeply intuited rights to being as we are in this vast and amazing, and even limitless mystery of a Universe-at-large. To some, that idea is scary, foreboding and surrounded by hordes of purely symbolic limits clothed in the scary symbols of demons and evil. For others, it is, like Dante's journey to the very core of Hades, the means to find the most certain, unquestionable, and deeply experienced form of freedom available to a conscious, existing being. That is, the Heaven, Nirvana, Satori, Peace, Ultimate Fulfillment, or whatever brand name you might know it as, symbolically. It is real. It is more real than the idea of real. It the home you visit as if for the first time and the summon bonum of every attempt to attain said. But the price is to be open, and brave, and discerning enought to accept an encounter with a process that provides no intercessor.

That is quite a challenge, I must say. It is easier to say that once you have encountered it. It is easy to have a profound compassion and deep empathy and understanding to those that you present the encounter to. Above all, expect your quest to contrast your current complacency and desire for ease and comfort. Then, dare to imagine the deeply realized result and reward of finding that the answer to the journey is to be, know, and experience who and what you are really are and what life actually is. That is, in a way that impacts, without egotistic goals and manipulative, profit-motivated schemes, those around you. Then, you are the stuff of the moon, and the sun, and the stars. You don't just rely knowing it, you are it. That is the difference.

That is where the change can and must come from. It is merely a recapitulation of the old Buddhist, Self-Realization, or a mirror of what Jesus said, "The Kingdom of Heaven within you!" and on and on from Sage, to Shaman, to Philosopher, and even some enlightened scientists. The goal is the incontrovertible fact that only come from the directness of a deep knowing. Something that has been diluted, perverted, and diminished as a part of the preparation for playing the game where the rules are defined by powerful players how know the ropes and, not only know the overall rules better than you can, they created, define, and change them as needed. How is that in relation to what you call stability, certainty, and a way of life?

21. Gas ain't goin' down-- get used to it...
buy a bicycle, take the bus, get a third or fourth job...

Yeah, it sucks, but whoever anyone wants to "blame" for it, fact is that it's going up and there's no reason for it to come down. Aside from rationing or government subsidies, we're gonna be stuck with high fuel prices for a long time.

So, those of us who actually work for a living are now stuck with all the basics going sky high-- housing, food, transportation... Everything but clothes, and that's only until China raises its pay.

Unless everyone in the family works at least 60 hours a week, you can't afford the cheapest house, or rent, around here and drive to work on the going rate of 10 bucks an hour. Or even 20 bucks.
