Many are fooled (citizens here in the USA) into thinking that the USA is somehow this benevolent worldwide "do-gooder" that gets no thanks, does not stand in the face of the boots-on-the-ground historical reality.

The corporate imperialism that runs our secret services and military have been at it a long time in Central and South America, just as they are at it now in the Middle East.
To ask, in essence, "Is this the thanks we get for helping the world", one needs to be wholly ignorant of how BIG money works.
The S. Americans that you see marching in the streets against the USA are the direct victims of corporate USA's meddling in their country via politics, trade, and the training of death squads (School of the Americas).

To ask "why we can't we take care of our own citizens" is a noble one however falls flat considering that the multi-national corporations are not beholden to any one nation and need our military and SS strengths to secure natural resources abroad. It's been going on for hundreds of years, with the arrival of the Spaniards, and continues today.
They "use" our citizen's goodwill and sense of nationality against them by claiming they are defending us, or fighting for freedom, or any other hot button reason to keep the masses compliant while they carry out their BIG money schemes.

A healthy dose is necessary for cohesiveness in any country, but too much (especially when exploited by the government) keeps people blind to the truth.

citizens who think they are doing something to help "freedom"...so very sad, people are duped into believing that a yellow ribbon car magnet will help the "cause", but the majority of those who purchase such things would never join or send their sons or daughters....
