23. Hi Whit - do they have a 30-day rule? That's the first time I've ever called in.

My husband just happened to be channel-flipping yesterday morning and saw some guy talking about the 2008 candidates. Tim Parnell, I think his name was. I came in the room about that time & started watching it, too, then we noticed the "C-Span" logo in the corner of the screen. I guess the BBC Parliament channel broadcasts it here on Sundays. We weren't even sure it was a live broadcast until they answered the phone.

Your comment about "speaking for those of us who can't" struck a chord with me. I don't know why you feel you can't speak up, but I certainly felt that way myself for a good few years, so I can relate, in a way.

In my case, living as an immigrant in another country, let's just say I reckoned that Karl Rove had plenty long tentacles, and I could easily see my name coming up on a no-fly list, or worse, if I got too verbal about my opinions of the *ush administration. Paranoid, maybe, but those clicks & pops on the phone lines... well, maybe they're just static.

But lately, I've come to the conclusion that while I may not live there anymore, she's still my damn country, too, and I love her. And if I stand silently by while she's destroyed from within by a bunch of greedy, war-mongering, murdering traitors, then I'm no better than they are. (Did you get all that, Karl? Need the tape rewound?)

Btw, I wish my 75-year-old mom, who doesn't seek out political information on the tv but despises Bush just from knowing what she does know, had watched C-Span this morning. She hasn't watched C-Span since the impeachment shenanigans against Clinton, I'm pretty sure. However, the show she watches every morning is Imus on msnbc. I wish Imus allowed callers, especially with your quickness of thought, to be included on his show for her to hear.

Not only was I not prepared to speak on the new topic, I thought it was a stupid question in the first place. I stuttered and stammered so bad, I haven't had the guts to go back and listen to it. :)
