Voting to continue the War...
just is not making sense to me. The House Democratic Leadership would effectively allow the deployment of US troops in Iraq until at least the end of August, 2008 if the President makes certain certifications of progress (which, of course, he would since he's a consummate liar). Also, the 2008 date is not a full withdrawal date since certain troops would be allowed to stay to train Iraqis and do other things(think Vietnam "advisors"). There is so much "wiggle room" in this proposal that it looks to me like just another non-binding resolution. I did not work my butt off here in NH to get a peace candidate elected just to get lip service.

I know there is an argument out there these days that we have to get something passed, but this, I think, has no teeth to it.

4. I think we need to get out of there far before 2008 or this
Congress is only going to prove, to me anyway, that they are benefiting somehow from this war and don't want to end it sooner rather than later. Also, if I were Congress I would get any promises from Bush in writing and under oath, or whatever it takes legally to force him to comply if he backpedals.
