NC citizens very unhappy with Sen Dole & Burr for not opposing Navy Landing Site...
Front page story of The Sunday Edition of the News and Observer today, 'Senators Hold Fire On Navy Field Site.' www.newsobserver.com

"...despite years of study, they(Dole/Burr) are not ready to take a stand on the Navy's plans to put a landing strip alongside a migratory bird refuge in Eastern North Carolina."

<snip>

"At this point, it's a matter of the process, Dole said. We still need to get answers to the questions"

<snip>

"The outlying landing field is one of the most contentious issues in years...."

**************

I keep telling Democrats that the people in North Carolina are very unhappy with Republicans and looking for a change to candidates like John Edwards.

They have had enough of the Republicans 'studying issues to death' like global warming, and doing nothing to protect the interests of our state.

North Carolinians are very unhappy and looking to Democrats for leadership. Unless Democrats make a gigantic mistake, North Carolina is going blue in 2008....

1. Let's get something straight -
They have had enough of the Republicans 'studying issues to death' like global warming, and doing nothing to protect the interests of our state.

"I OBJECT!"

Republicans don't study shit.

They delay.
They obstruct.
They obfuscate.
They manipulate.
They bribe.
They lie.
They cheat.
Then they take the path that will result in the biggest payoff of CASH to them and their stinking, treasonous, party.

That's what they do.

I'm not beating up on you Blackhatjack my friend.
I already know I'm preaching to the choir.

I really hope that we are seeing the "dying throes" of the Republican Party.
But, the Dems better get their shit together and get it together quickly.

2. That's why "studying issues to death' was in quotes... you obviously get it!
All those prognosticators out there that keep labelling North Carolina as a Red State for Republicans are just out of touch.

Bush and his policies are very unpopular here - where we have numerous military bases and their families. But we get very little MSM coverage, and the troops are not allowed to speak out publicly.

Dems need to quit worrying about missteps, and act -- now, today!

The voters are waiting, and Democratic 'indecision' is the Republicans' best friend.

6. Agree...but what about the Dems we have like Easley?
We don't need anymore Dem Governors like Easley who never shows up at functions...(maybe he meets with the inside the Beltway Crowd at dinner parties) but a State Functions he's almost never seen ...always some excuse. And, Bobby Etheridge has to be constantly nudged and so does Mel Watt. I understand conservative districts and the religious right...but until we can break through the "exclusivity" that runs the Dem Party...we are still going to be manipulated by the Repugs.

I see the change that you do...and think Dole is going to go down...but Burr was put in there by the Physicians and Dentists and NC Bio-Pharma interests because his issue was beating back Malpractic Awards, and doing everything to get Bio-Pharma Investment into NC. He's going to be a hard one to get rid of...and we have him past '08.

We need fresh faces in the State to Groom upwards. I still am angry with Edwards for giving up his seat...even though he was pressured to do that by the DLC Bowles business interests. Lieberman and others have hung on.... Edwards did the honorable thing and stuck us with that Ass Burr.

Thanks for your post..

8. I for one do not believe Easley will seek higher office....
I think Easley has the idea of making money off his status and contacts when his term ends. I could be wrong, but I see the same things you do about his almost invisibility at public functions which he would be using if he had plans for higher office.

The Democratic field is wide open for gubernatorial candidates.

We have a number of qualified candidates to run against Dole in 2008, but I think most are waiting to see who else might jump in first.

I expect that once the candidates for Governor shake out, people waiting in the wings to challenge Dole will will make their move.

Plus it is going to be a tremendous help having a popular Democratic nominee for President on the ballot. People are waiting impatiently to vote against this President and his policies, and that will show up in the next election.

12. Beverly Purdue was Easley's "Stand IN."
Maybe she will run for Governor or Liddy's seat. Many like Elaine Marshall...and from what I've seen of her I think she might make an "interesting" candidate to replace Liddy Dole.

 Just speculation. Perdue...would be Easley DINO involved...Marshall is a wild card...but a very likeable person who has shown up repeatedly at Progressive Dems of NC events...

4. I have serious doubts that Dole will run for reelection to Senate....
... she has been criticized in Repub Party circles for the poor showing her candidates made in the 2006 election. Her age is catching up with her. Bush is unpopular, and she cannot unhitch her wagon from supporting Bush 100% over the last 6 years.

Dems keep hanging back from filing to challenge her, but IMHO there are many Dems who could beat her and beat her badly.

This President and his policies will be highlighted, and the dismal poll numbers will not go up until we get out of Iraq --and that will never happen as long as Bush is in office.
