good comeback a friend used on a fellow worker
Edited on Sun Mar-11-07 12:54 PM by blondie58
We are all postal workers and most of us are union members, although we have our share of 'scabs'. I personally believe in the strength of the union. I don't feel that it is perfect, but in looking at the big picture, it is a good thing.

We work with this carrier, Charlie who is an avid right winger, Christian type. He has an extremely negative personality and knows the exact number of days that he has before retirement, as he hates his job, but was never brave enough to quit and do anything else.

He is always slamming immigrants, public school, diversity and most of the other right wing viewpoints.

Our union, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has fought hard for us over the years and we get cost of living adjustments and last contract got us a higher level of pay, as our responsibilities have increased.

Arlee was slamming the union one day, when my other friend, Ralph said that Charlie might as well be on welfare, getting the benefits that those of us that belong to the Union do, without paying union dues.

That shut him up pretty fast and I still find it really funny. So, if you work with a scab or someone who is enjoying the fruits of a union without paying union dues, this is a good line!

edited to change the names to protect the innocent

2. Good one! "Charlie" should donate his raise to
some worthy cause, at least.

3. I like that
When I worked at the Colorado social services, there were so many conservative minded coworkers. They talked like Republicans but loved the government career we all had going.

Nice to see you hanging in at DU! Btw, nice weather lately for mail delivery! :hi:

4. well, I'm a little addicted to DU!
But that is really not a bad addiction. I have learned so much.
It does amaze me how many government employees and blue collar workers are Repugs. They really are voting against their own interests.

And YES! Spring is here! Although I have heard from a couple of different people that we are supposed to be getting another huge blizzard this month. Darn Farmers Almanac.

don't think of it as an addiction but as a time management challenge.

and be careful not to let it get in the way of work...
