3. So who the hell are they "protecting" them from?
I don't know of anyone defacing or dishonoring any of our monuments, except maybe the Republican's 30-year history of dishonoring of our natural monuments.

4. It's a freeper counter protest
Leftist activists who march to the Pentagon next month will discover that their path won't be as clear as it has been in the past.

The group, led by Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their ilk, plan to gather March 17 at the Vietnam Memorial Wall to begin a march to protest America's involvement in the Iraq war. The date marks the fourth anniversary of the war's beginning.

This time, however, protestors will see objectors if they spit on Iraqi veterans again, or throw paint on a war memorial. This time, they will encounter a buzz saw of Vietnam veterans and supporters who will gather to protect the Wall, and show their support for U.S. troops. The counter-protestors are calling themselves the Gathering of Eagles.

9. This so called spitting was a PR stunt by a guy wanting his 15 minutes of fame.
He was all over Fox News until it was proven he wasn't even where he said he was. He just want the fame and perhaps some bucks from FRox. They sure dropped him quick. But the thing is his lying story is still making the rounds of the web.

I'll be with you in spirit, just like I was in Vietnam. You see, a lot of folks don't realize how badly I wanted to be in a fighting unit in Vietnam, and how hard I tried to get there. First I tried to join the Army Infantry, but minorities and poor people were hogging all the good spots in the front lines because of affirmative action, and I didn't want to use my connections to jump in front of them, so I had to give up on this plan. I thought my next best shot at getting to the combat was to join the Texas Air National Guard and hope my unit got called up. I only checked the 'Does not wish to serve overseas' box on my Guard application because the mean sergeant in the recruiting office told me I had to. This sergeant was really mean, and he hollered like Sergeant Carter on 'Gomer Pyle, USMC'! What else could I have done? ~ CIC George W. Bush

Here's another:

Well, I use my hemorrhoids as the reason for why I won't join the military and go fight in the war, so I might as well use them as an excuse for this too.

And another:

I would like to encourage all patriotic Americans to join The Great Patriotic French Boycott. So far, the things we're boycotting are poodles, French's mustard, the Pontiac Parisienne, Family Affair reruns, and plaster of paris. We'll bring those Godless frogs to their knees.

I just keep finding funny ones:

I wish I could sighn this one thirty times!!! Shirley someone in our country should choose to stand and fight this agression, so that others more weaker than us can disagree with it.

Who is this "Shirley Someone" and why didn't she stand to fight this agression?

7. Snort! so when the Freepers have 20 people and "our side" has
.... 250,000 they can say look @ all these on-line folks we got.

Go to the on line petition  Talk about full of shit people ....
We care so much about the troops that we want them to keep dying for a war based on lies that has zero
chance of success.

Tony Ackerman : Stand tall and stand proud.! Let the silence of respect for our fallen heroes
be a glorious song to their memory and patriotism and a deafening roar to
the defeatists in our midst and the enemies of our country!

Ah, Tony outing a CIA agent who was working to keep us safe from real WMDs is called Treason.

We, the undersigned, pledge to attend the March 17th Gathering of Eagles in Washington, D.C. We intend to stand guard at our nation's sacred memorials to honor the memory of our troops who died in service of our great country. We promise to recognize and reflect on the sacrifice of our fallen heroes.

Please sign here only IF you WILL be in attendance at the Vietnam War Memorial on March 17th. We are trying to obtain an accurate total so we know how many to expect. There is another petition at: http://www.petitiononline.com/GOE317/petition.html - please sign there if you will be with us IN SPIRIT.

Our troops, current and prior, are true heroes and we will honor each and every one of them by standing side by side, heads held high, defending the sanctity of our nation's monuments to veterans. Our sacred pledge is that our actions will honor those heroes and that we will respect their service and their sacrifice.

I WILL be at the Gathering of Eagles on March 17th in Washington, DC.

The rumor of vets returning from Iraq being spit on is a right wing fairytale. The anti-war activists don't have a problem with the troops, but with the chickenhawks who sent them to this phony war.

14. one of my little trolls has been frothing about this for over a month now--and screaming that HIS
side will have have hundreds of thousands there (based on the number of "hits" to the website. I have tried explaining that "hits" doesn't mean all these people will be there, plus wanted to know how many of those "hits" were his".

of course, he is a tad bit delusional--his other current "successful" effort is the marine memorial in Hawaii--he doesn't understand that one, either.

these people are really pathetic. he claims to be a vet--but he has yet to utter one word about the situation at walter reed. and, despite his supposed age (the reason given for not enlisting for iraq), I told him that any of the mercenary companies would gladly take him.

alas, he is still here.

the amount of people who are signing this petition that think that people are actually going to physically desecrate the memorial. WOW, a scary lot they are.
