Barack Obama's team just called my home. wanting money
Edited on Sun Mar-11-07 03:21 PM by greenbriar
I told them he was my man if Gore doesn't run...

them... Gore is not running...he has a cloud...

I said uh hum...we will see

they want money.

Told them I would donate later, but I wanted assurance that he wouldn't lay down and take the swift boats, the gop smears, ect...

He "assured" me Gore wasn't running. I told them I know more than he did about the state of the country...

told them that the current t-shirt I was wearing said "I ONLY SLEEP WITH DEMOCRATS...

told them to call me later

5. They called me too. I told them I had already given to the Democratic
National Committee and they should get some of that funding if he is the one picked through the primary. That was it.

6. "he has a cloud"
Remember, those trying to raise money for a candidate are one of two kinds of people: 1) paid fund raisers, that solely have the job of raising money ... they will say whatever they feel they need to in order to get you to donate to their (candidate/cause). 2) true believers in their candidate ... at this early point in the race those volunteering to raise money are the "true believers" ... in their minds they have ruled out the others for various reasons.

I'm not sure I would take anything said by those soliciting phone donations as indicative of the candidate or his/her campaign.

7. Or they could be instructed to handle it with class
"Well thank you for your time sir,we will send you some information on Mr. Obama's candidacy that we hope will cause you to see he is the best choice for our next President. Thank you for supporting the Democratic Party."

8. Exactly.
I've worked on many a campaign (volunteer) and have done phone banking. We were never told to "push". I think it's very UNclassy to do so and just pisses off your potential supporters.

11. I am sure they are ...
However, in the case of people driven by pure passion or whose job is contingent upon raising $$$, I can see this happening ... without the candidates knowledge or consent. If I received a fund raising call that I felt was particularly egregious ... I would notify the campaign.

Gore is my first choice ... I certainly wish Obama's fund raisers had responded differently, this example is not one that I would feel compelled to call the campaign about:shrug:

12. He has a cloud alright
and there will be nothing but silver linings in that cloud when he announces.

He will raise more money on the internet in a month than Hillary has.
