Does John McCain know something we don't know?

Why is John McCain cheerleading for this failed war? He's criticized the war before--when it was more
popular--but today he's almost a lone wolf---agreeing with the troop surge and supporting a wildly
unpopular pResident and his catastrophic war.

I'm troubled by McCain's pro-war stance, because he's couched his positions as concern about "national security" and "terrorism".
He's pounding that drum repeatedly. Given his intimate relationship with Junior and the rest of the thugs--I'm
seriously wondering if these guys know something that the rest of us don't.

It's almost as if the neocons are positioning McCain as the "tough on terrorism, even when everyone
else gave up" big dog. It's possible that McCain proved himself to the neocons during the 04 election--when
he campaigned for Junior--and now he's their boy for 2008.

I know this is all speculation. I know it's a bit off the wall. However, something is in the air. I feel
that a set-up of some sort is at hand--and that McCain's current, curious statements that are designed to
position him "post event".

Am I smoking my socks here, or does anyone feel that something is up?

They were in charge on 9/11, and failed to protect us. If it happens again under their watch, it will be proof positive that they are failures at protecting America.

I really believe one of the GOP's worst fears is another terrorist attack over here, because that would be two on their scorecard. And after 6 years to take preventive measures, it would be glaringly obvious that they have failed miserably.

I really do believe that as sick and corrupt as they are, they do not want anything else to happen over here. We're fighting them over there so we don't have to over here, remember? Without that, they have NOTHING LEFT to stand on.

I actually don't think McCain is positioning himself for anything positive with his wildly irrational position. For reasons that I can't fathom, he sees the solution to the Iraq disaster as a military one, rather then a diplomatic one - despite the fact more and more folks in both parties, and over 2/3 of the American people - see this escalation idea as crazy.

My only hunch is McCain, Loserman, and Shrub have delicate egos and don't want to lose an already lost and senseless war. :shrug:

19. Here's what I think about McCain (you're not smoking your socks).

He is continuing to operate on the premise that we were completely justified in invading Iraq, while criticizing the way the Bush Administration handled the invasion - thus he has 'turned' against them (specifically Cheney in the last day or two). My first inclination is that Cheney may step down with Bush appointing McCain as VP. Then McCain would be a shoe-in for the Republican nomination - getting the backing of the neocons to take up where Bush leaves off and getting the support of the Republican nutcase base - you know, the ones who still believe Saddam Hussein attacked us on 9/11 and that Iraq is the central front in the war on terror.

I hate to say this, but I think McCain would be just as bad or even worse than Bush when it comes to fearmongering and continuing a perpetual war in the middle east. I don't think he's wrapped too tight (which is just the kind of person the neocons need as President).
