No Place but Texas. State Rep buys himself $1500 custom boots with campaign donations.

You people in other states think you have a lock on corruption? Think again. Texas is NUMERO UNO when it comes to corruption and nobody can beat us! Nobody.

Case in point:

State Representative John Davis' (R-Houston) custom made, $1500 cowboy boots, from Jesse's Boots in South Houston, which he bought with his campaign donors money, has just cost his donors another $1000. The Texas Ethics Commission has fined Davis $1000.00 for using his campaign donors contributions for personal use.

Unfortunately instead of paying this fine out of his own pocket, he can pay it with his campaign donations, but at least he had to reimburse his campaign the $1500.

He has spent tens of thousands of dollars on gasoline, yet little of it seems to be on his campaign since he hasnt had an opponent for 8 years. And his gas purchases are from gas stations at his work or at his house. Nothing in between.

8. Ostrich quill boots are popular here in Texas

and are considered fancy. They are expensive, and are worn only for more social ocassions such as nights out on the town, church, fancy dinners, etc.

There's also alligator hide, rattlesnake skin, and good 'ol fashioned plain cow leather for workin' on the ranch.

7. Living in TX has its benefits,

but generally speaking, sometimes I scream out on the inside, "Dear God, get me outta this crazy corrupt state!"

Now to be perfectly fair, the South is generally rife with corruption. Texas is bad, no doubt, but I've heard some pretty spooky things regarding corruption in Louisiana.

And we all remember how utterly sad it was when poor Trent Lott's house in Mississippi was damaged - and the ensuing joy and relief when Bush promised to rebuild his house, with a beautiful new porch where he and Lott could sit out on and drink sweet tea, whiling away the lazy days of summer.:eyes: :puke:
