Why? Why would anyone hate Blacks and Jews enough to belong to an organization that advocates for their destruction? What is the reason behind it all? I know it sounds like a naive question, but when you think about it, it really isn't.

is a place to start. I know people who are repeating ugly racist "jokes" about Obama. I don't believe that it is localized to my area. Trying to understand hatred of the type that the Klan demonstrate is not easy, but it sure exists. Sorry that I can't answer a question that has been with us for a long time.

What we don't do is ask the question WHY? I come from a generation that believes that if we know why a social issue exists, we can get together and work on solving the problem. We can't change attitudes if we don't know why they exist.

That page included white supremacist songs, bulletin boards and anti-Martin Luther King bedtime stories. Don Black, the story pointed out, keeps a photo of his son in a Confederate uniform on his desk.

What your parents believe isn't necessarily what you believe. Of course, at the age of 19 he may not be mature enough to break from this fathers influence.
