Rep. Ron Paul To Run For President
HOUSTON -- U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, a strict constitutionalist and fierce anti-war critic, will formally declare his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination Monday when he appears as a guest on a C-SPAN call-in program.

Paul, R-Texas, created a presidential exploratory committee in January, allowing him to begin collecting money on behalf of his bid. Kent Snyder, the chairman of that committee, said Saturday that Paul would make his candidacy official on Monday.

This will be Paul's second try for the White House. He was the Libertarian nominee for president in 1988.

Snyder said Paul is scheduled to be a guest on "Washington Journal" Monday morning and will make his announcement then.

1. not that I'd vote for him, but this is a good thing . . . at least his candidacy will ensure . . .
that the issues no one else wants to touch will be raised during the campaign . ..

2. At least there will be one candidate who will speak about the impending
disaster based on the federal budget deficit, the federal debt, the trade deficit, and the corruption of the Federal Reserve. We need Ron Paul if only to get this information out and to be addressed.

3. It'll be interesting to see how the Republican Debates go.
If they let everybody in - Chuch Shumer is apparently considering a run too - I hope he gets in.

4. To date, he is the only House Member that has given a floor speach on PNAC.
He is too much of a Libertarian for me, and I know he will be invisible to the press, not unlike Kucinich. I do wish him welll.

5. Intriguing. I wish him well. I am not a fan of his conservative streak but
he's 50% better than all the rest of the Repubs. LOL

7. I might switch to Rethug to vote for him in the primary.
There are quite a few things I disagree with him on, such as the gold standard and immigration. That being said, it's time for a president who understands the limits placed on him by the constitution and is actually going to work to SHRINK the size of government.

Go Ron!

8. So Ron Paul- a repug who addresses "50%" of Dems' views- has more
support here than "spoiler" Nader- who addresses at least 90% of Dems' views.

While we have a Dem in our midst who would do better...

9. Anything to further divide the republicans
And this will have that effect. There are more republican voters who want us out of Iraq than the PNACers are willing to admit.
