I'm not one to go throwing around words like that easily. I often condemn the hyperbole and anger that flows from many on DU. However there are no other words to describe Haliburton's move. How a company who makes a substantial portion of its money in Defense contracts (with no bid contracts no less) wants to move offshore so they do not have to pay the taxes that are funding the war that they are profiting from is pathetic and disgusting. While I know that this act of brazenness and stupidity is in the end of the day going to lead more people away from the Republicans, its still one of most absolutely reprehensible things I've ever come across.

1. What I don't understand is
why they let Halliburton do it especially now. By "they" I mean Bush and Cheney. You can't tell me that B & C didn't know about this before Halliburton announced it.

3. Congress should act, passing a bill that immediately prevents Haliburton from being given
any other government contract and stops all active ones.

4. Not just tax dodge. DEMs with supeonas = corporate brass in trouble
It is flight to avoid prosecution. The junta hasn't managed to fire ALL the good prosecutors yet and DEMS on the Hill have tipped the balance of the protection racket the GOP was running for corporate criminals.

They took the $$ - now it's time to cut and run. And our permanent bases in Iraq will likely be expected to provide for their defense in Dubai

America means NOTHING; IT is ALL about the almighty dollar and safe havens for avoiding prosecution and the ability to commit further corporate crimes. I believe 'we' have something REALLY BIG here and the criminal corruption trail goes directly into the West Wing. The smell of IMPEACHMENT is beautiful in the Spring.
