Air Force Master Sargent thought elderly woman he hit with car was a bird
Air Force master sergeant accused of killing elderly woman in Burlington hit-and-run

A master sergeant in the US Air Force accused of a fatal hit-and-run that left a 75-year-old woman dead told Burlington police that he kept driving because he thought he had only hit a bird, a prosecutor said today in court.

Dennis P. Cool, 41, told investigations he drank three 25-ounce glasses of Miller Lite over two to three hours at a 99 Restaurant in Billerica Sunday afternoon and got in his green Jeep Liberty Renegade to drive home along Route 3A, according to a police report.

"He heard a loud thump and saw something fly up that hit his windshield," Tejal Mehta, an assistant Middlesex County district attorney, said today in Woburn District Court. "He thought it was a bird," Mehta said, and Cool kept driving home.

Police allege that Cool actually hit a 5-foot 5-inch tall Asian woman who had been in the United States the last few months to visit her daughter and son-in-law. Police did not release the woman's name or specify from which country she was visiting.

Rescuers found the woman on the sidewalk with severe head trauma. Police said a piece of Cool's fender and his passenger-side mirror were found in the road. The woman was rushed to Lahey Clinic in Burlington and pronounced dead.

11. No, Dick Cheney shoots people in the face. Laura Bush kills them with her car.
Michael Dutton Douglas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Dutton Douglas (November 16, 1945 - November 6, 1963) was a 17-year-old acquaintance of First Lady Laura Bush (then Laura Welch) who was killed when Welch, also 17, failed to stop at a stop sign while driving and broadsided his vehicle. Welch was not ticketed or charged in connection with the collision. According to some accounts, Douglas was a former romantic interest or ex-boyfriend of Welch.

Douglas and Welch were students together at Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. Douglas has been described as an active athlete, physically attractive, and intelligent. He was nominated as the school's most popular male student while a junior, an honor typically awarded only to graduating high school seniors.

In May 2000, a two-page police report detailing the fatal crash was made public. The report revealed that on November 6, 1963, Welch was driving her Chevrolet Impala sedan with one passenger (Judy Dyke, also 17). It was a clear Wednesday night, shortly after 8 p.m., when Welch entered the intersection of State Highway 349 and Farm to Market Road 868. Welch failed to observe the intersection's stop sign and collided into Douglas' Chevrolet Corvair sedan. Welch and Dyke sustained minor injuries; Douglas was pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital. Welch was not charged with any offense.

The future First Lady made a brief remark in March 2000 about the crash, "I know this as an adult, and even more as a parent, it was crushing ... for the family involved and for me as well." <1>

3. A few points...
...First...I wish my last name was Cool instead of the dorky name I have been saddled with for 4 decades

Second..I wish that drunk drivers were pulled from their cars and beaten to within an inch of thier lives, had thier cars impounded and destoyed and licenses revoked for several years - driving priviledges resume only with breath-a-lyzer in place that must be used prior to ignition

Third - why was it necessary to mention the ethnicity of the victim??

Anyway...I am bored at work...this is why I am pondering the previous nothings....
