Alaska trooper not contacted by investigator
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/washington/AP-Palin-Troopergate.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

The Alaska state trooper at the heart of a legislative investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power said Tuesday he has not been contacted by the man overseeing the inquiry.

The Legislature is investigating whether Palin, the Republican candidate for vice president, fired former Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan because he would not dismiss trooper Mike Wooten. Wooten went through a messy divorce from Palin's sister.

But nearly six weeks into the investigation, Wooten told The Associated Press on Tuesday that he has not been contacted by the Legislature's investigator, former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower.

''I have not been contacted by him, nor will I contact him,'' Wooten said. ''If he wants to talk to me, I will cooperate 100 percent with him, but he has not contacted me.''

1. I've only had one experience with a serious investigation, but
I think the way they work is that the principals are contacted last.

I think the reasoning is to interview all of the witnesses and gather evidence

and only then confront the principals in order to trap them into coming clean

3. There is no way in hell this woman should be anywhere near the presidency
Vice or otherwise. Can anybody imagine how this story would have blown up in the media if Hillary Clinton had tried to do some shit like this. It would be the main story in every newspaper around the country.
