Top general whos name is "Peter Pace" calls homosexuality 'immoral'
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-070312pace,1,4954133.story?coll=chi-news-hed

By Aamer Madhani
Tribune national correspondent
Published March 12, 2007, 5:28 PM CDT

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Monday that he supports the Pentagon's "don't ask, don't tell" ban on gays serving in the military because homosexuality is "immoral" and on par with having an extramarital affair.

Addressing the controversial policy as part of a wide-ranging interview with the Tribune in Chicago, Pace said the military should not "condone" immoral behavior by allowing gay soldiers to serve openly. He said his views were based on his "upbringing," in which certain types of conduct were thought to be immoral.

"I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts...," Pace said, while also calling it immoral for military members to commit adultery with another service member's spouse. "I do not believe the United States is well served by a policy that says it is okay to be immoral in anyway.

In the interview, Pace also said that a provision in the House Democrats' proposal to wind down the war could hamper President Bush's planned troop "surge" in Iraq by creating gaps in troop levels.

F*K him. "based on his upbringing in which certain types of conduct were thought to be immoral", too funny!

did they also then ask that bastard about other stereotypes and racism that he was taught to be "immoral" and ask if he still held those feelings?

what a sick, pathetic, louse.

3. That's rich...A baby killer who started an illegal war speaking on the finer points of morality
Fuck you Peter Pace. Sounds like a porn star name anyway.

If you were a soldier before you were a wingnut you would see that allowing gays to openly serve in the military would create more potential recruits to protect current forces. But, since your ideology is more important than American lives, I guess you don't care.

The climb to the top of our government apparently can only be accomplished by completely disregarding any care for the American people.

8. Baby Killer? More like a desk driving, toadying bag carrier...
You'd think he'd have remembered his Vietnam service, but no. He hasn't had any significant operational experience since then, save Somalia, where he hid, Caligula-like, well behind the lines. Note his early but CRITICAL suckup at the White House--that determined his future. Skip, skip, skip to easy, cheesy, ticket punching jobs, spending the minimum time possible, push paper and suck, suck, suck up. This is not an opinion, either. I'm telling you what most people who have served with or near him think of him.

This resume is DAMNED shy of forward operational experience for someone in his present position:

In 1968, upon completion of The Basic School, Quantico, Va., General Pace was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam, serving first as a Rifle Platoon Leader and subsequently as Assistant Operations Officer. He was later assigned to Marine Barracks, Washington, DC, where he served in a number of billets, to include Security Detachment Commander, Camp David; White House Social Aide; and Platoon Leader, Special Ceremonial Platoon.

General Pace has held command at virtually every level, and served in overseas billets in Nam Phong, Thailand; Seoul, Korea; and Yokota, Japan. While serving as President, Marine Corps University, then Brigadier General Pace also served as Deputy Commander, Marine Forces, Somalia, from December 1992 - February 1993, and as the Deputy Commander, Joint Task Force - Somalia from October 1993 - March 1994.

After an assignment as the Director for Operations (J-3), Joint Staff, Washington DC, then Lieutenant General Pace served as the Commander, U. S. Marine Corps Forces, Atlantic/Europe/South. He was promoted to General and assumed duties as the Commander in Chief, United States Southern Command in September 2000.

As the Vice Chairman from October 2001 to August 2005, General Pace served as the Chairman of the Joint Requirements Oversight Council, Vice Chairman of the Defense Acquisition Board, and as a member of the National Security Council Deputies Committee and the Nuclear Weapons Council. In addition, he acted for the Chairman in all aspects of the Planning, Programming and Budgeting System including participation in the Defense Resources Board.

21. Hi, Maat. Sad to say, some of mine also, although there's been some
progress in turning their heads a bit lately.

Bush is running around Latin America asking the Congress for more troops when 2/3s of the country think the Iraq War is a doomed commitment.

And the impeachment whispers are growing louder.

It's a dark fog at the moment, but I'm seeing stronger rays of light burning through.

Colin Powell got his start in the same White House.

Someone who has turned a blind eye to Abu Graibh, as well as being a chanter of such classic, yet now unmentionable slogans as "turning the corner" and "stay the course", who has never decried the wasted and lost billions (with a B) of treasure better spent elsewhere, is now taking up the mantle of morality lecturer?

And he wants to lecture me?

A pig's eye is too good of a place, General.

When the blood stops flowing and the bodies stop coming home, when the world no longer hates us for what you have done, when terror is fought with something besides fear and more terror, maybe, just MAYBE, you may be able to speak on morality, Sir.

Until then, only those who use morality as a cloak and a lie will listen.

I am not listening.

(with apologies to Arlo)

I went over to the sargent, said, "Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm
sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin here on the Group Q bench
'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages what with bein' gay." He looked at me and said,
"Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send you fingerprints
off to Washington."

57. Peter Pace must have taken a lot of kidding when he was a kid in grade school
for his name. "Peter Face, Peter Face, Peter Face". Or "Peter Paste, Peter Paste, Peter Paste". Or "What your peter's pace today?" Something must have happened in his past to turn him into such an uptight tin soldier.
