BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Lehman Brothers were down more than 25% in premarket action before Thursday's opening bell, one day after the stock fell about 7% after the company announced a nearly $4 billion third-quarter loss. Washington Mutual Inc. was off more than 10% early Thursday. WaMu shares plunged about 30% on Wednesday on lingering doubts about the thrift's viability. Elsewhere in financials, Merrill Lynch lost 7% in premarket trading, Ambac Financial Group Inc. slipped 11%, PMI Group Inc. was down 7% and National City Corp. fell 6%.
