This appears kafkaesque and totalitarian. The "content" management person said I cannot mention a company name that I wanted to boycott such as GE or Exxon/Mobil even in a bumper sticker because THEY own the name of the company.

So I cannot use a company name that I want to boycott. The purpose of using bumper stickers and mugs etc. in part appears to get the message out in a political manner.

This reeks of the old soviet Russia.

1. White duct tape and .....
your favorite color Sharpie. Make your own, easy to change and remove. I've used it with good luck on the back of my motorcycle helmet.

3. if you are selling or publishing the usual copyright rules apply, and that is one of them.
It is not specifically because it is a bumper sticker or protest. I am a photographer, and I go through this all day long. You CAN put a bumper sticker on your car with a copyrighted name or image, but you cannot sell and publish (distribute).

5. what about their phone number?
I just made new bumper stickers without their name but with their phone number. They're phone number does not have a copy right does it?

Also those people who say bumper stickers cannot have longer messages, people do see them when they walk past a parked car. People don't only see bumper stickers while driving in traffic.

BY the way, can I mention the Republican party on a bumper sticker and sell it as to boycott Republican contributors or does this censorship apply also?

11. Thta's up to the republican party. just understand it isn't censorship, it's copyright protection.
It is the same law which will protect you if the republican party publishes an article you wrote. (or your bumper sticker!)

4. Another idea...
You can get adhesive back paper for computer printers. Print out a whole bunch of stuff from your ink jet. There are even free stickers/posters/templates on line that are already designed for your use. If you want your stickers to last longer hit them with something like 'modge-podge' to waterproof them a bit before you stick 'em on. DIY! It's our best weapon...

9. A Phone Number Does Not Fall Under Copyright Protection. Not Sure Why You'd Think It Would.

10. Ok I put the phone number of the company on the bumper sticker.
Yes, I'm selling the bumper stickers as political bumper stickers.

I put this on the bumper sticker

I will not go to gas stations whose parent company has the following phone number until Bush and Cheney resign.

So I will use this format and no copyright laws have gotten challenged.

8. Actually, That's Perfectly Reasonable To Tell Ya The Truth. Standard Copyright Law.
If you wanted to just put it on your car without distributing it or selling it, as others have stated, then that would be fine. If your intent was the latter, then it absolutely is against basic copyright law and rightfully so.
