24. Didn't you know that these words are okay on DU because they are

gender neutral? Just as one can use certain ethnic and racial epithets generically against most people. These words are racially and ethnically neutral. In other words one can use terms like "you _______________" (pick your favorite ethnic slur) against anyone as long as that person is not actually a member of the group you are maligning. You see, then it is racially and ethnically neutral. That is the way it works with words like bitch, whore, etc. on DU so it must be that way with words that refer to ones ethnicity or religion. That is the rule, right? I won't be banned if I do this, right? The big difference here is that I would not use those terms even if they were allowed but using terms here whose derivation is degrading to ALL women is okay. Those with vaginas are allowed all the defaming "generic" terms one can think of.

I googled the phrase "lying bitches" from that site to see if maybe I was being too sensitive. Maybe I just think it's hate speech, maybe it's really not. Maybe my own sense of the words is based on some unique experience I had? Here was the first hit:

A few paragraphs later, the guy goes on to say that "nigger" is an ok word to use for black people who "deserve it." And the man is clearly white. Hate speech or not, I doubt this jerk is representative of anything but other racist, sexist assholes.

The words are a little course, I'll admit. But if you object to a game that allows you to throw knives in Ann Coutler's direction, you'd have to also object to the games that allow you to throw knives in Gingrich's and Lieberman's direction as well--for making light of torture. Or games that involve hurting people in any capacity--for portraying violence in a positive light. And then....

Did I mention my favorite video game is Grand Theft Auto?

18. I have two major problems with this:

one, naturally, I am not that good with throwing knives. My accuracy is crap.
