Please Do The DU Thing On The US Attorney Voter Fraud Stories
Dear DU,

Greetings and best wishes from NZ,

I have just posted four links to Scoopit.co.nz on the INCREDIBLE developments in the US Attorney scandal so sublimely outlined to us yesterday in AutoRanks' great story presently topping the DU greatest page.

At present you can see the links here...

http://www.scoopit.co.nz/shakeit.php?part=upcoming&order=1

However they will shortly receive the required 5 votes and doubtless end up on this page...

http://www.scoopit.co.nz/

I should like them to be up where they belong at the top of this page...

http://www.scoopit.co.nz/topstories.php

Where I hope they will be noticed by some of the media folk down here in NZ and commence some mainstream reporting of the EXTRAORDINARY developments currently going on over the sea in your fair and fabled land.

Althecat

P.S. Our Prime Minister is intending on coming for a visit to DC next week (20th and 21st), it would be a good thing for the NZ public (and my press gallery colleagues who will be accompanying her) to be a bit better informed about the AMAZING things happening to the Washington political landscape. Voting these stories up a bit would be a pretty cool way of making sure that happens.

P.P.S. Apologies for the CAPITALISATIONS.

23. (You click on the "Scoop It" box - there is no "vote" box)
For those DUers like me who were unfamiliar with this site - took me a bit looking around for a "Vote" icon. However, once I figured out that the "Scoop It" box was where one voted, I voted for all of the stories.

12. Yum, althecat..
"For the first time in six years, it's possible to hope that all the facts about a Bush administration scandal will come out in Congressional hearings - or, if necessary, in the impeachment trial of Alberto Gonzales."

Late Update: There's a sub-issue emerging in the canned US Attorneys scandal: the apparently central role of Republican claims of voter fraud and prosecutors unwillingness to bring indictments emerging from such alleged wrongdoing. Very longtime readers of this site will remember that this used to be something of a hobby horse of mine. And it's not surprising that it is now emerging as a key part of this story. The very short version of this story is that Republicans habitually make claims about voter fraud. But the charges are almost invariably bogus. And in most if not every case the claims are little more than stalking horses for voter suppression efforts. That may sound like a blanket charge. But I've reported on and written about this issue at great length. And there's simply no denying the truth of it. So this becomes a critical backdrop to understanding what happened in some of these cases. Why didn't the prosecutors pursue indictments when GOP operatives started yakking about voter fraud? Almost certainly because there just wasn't any evidence for it.

Quote of the Day

on Fitz:
"here and there, you read comments about the prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald and how much he damaged the First Amendment by sweating a bunch of journalists.

Please. It's more like he lanced some kind of infectious boil."

That diary of Froomkins is what inspired this post. Its like the vultures are circling. If he pardons Libby he gets eaten by the public. If he doesn't he gets eaten by his increasingly paranoid subordinates. Will be a fun day in the White House tomorrow.

17. Thankyou Stevepol....
Tis a remarkable thing that this is related to voter fraud.

Till now nobody has had proof that Karl Rove was up to his neck in dirty voting tricks. Now there is a smoking gun pointed at the president and dear Karl is the only possible fall guy from the look of things. Meanwhile Gonzales would appear to be toast.

20. Hey Hey Hey althecat, My Observations
This is all about the '08 election as well as past elections. They are setting up their runts to challenge the 08 races.

I have been doing an extensive comic blog on this, hard keeping up. There is a lot of dirt that is starting to reveal the underlying workings of this regime/cartel/cabal.

I'll give you a good :kick: and rec, but promise me you'll check out my blog. Link in my sig.
