Many workers live paycheck to paycheck: survey
Four out of 10 U.S. workers often or always live from paycheck to paycheck, according to a survey released on Monday.

Women are more likely to live paycheck to paycheck, at 47 percent, than men, at 36 percent, according to the survey conducted for CareerBuilder.com, an online job site based in Chicago. Overall, 41 percent of workers say they often or always live paycheck to paycheck, it said.

Also, 41 percent of women say they do not have enough income to live comfortably, compared with 29 percent of men.

U.S. government and other research reports have found that women earn about 77 cents for every dollar earned by men for comparable work. Women are also more likely to be single parents.

2. My wife and I have figured out a way to live pay-to-pay and still save
Since we get paid alternating weeks, we live pay to pay, and whatever is left in the other person's account (we have seperate checking/savings accounts), goes into a savings account.

3. If Americans keep electing corporatists, it will be 5 in 10, then 6 in 10, then you will be the 7th.
Education, is the only safeguard a people have against corrupt candidates and politicians, but the corporatists own many news outlets today.

4. Yes, but how many are doing so by choice vs. necessity?
Obviously there are millions out there whose jobs, salaries and skillsets allow them more modest means, and may in fact require them to live paycheck to paycheck without an opportunity to save after all the essential bills are paid. But how many out there are twenty and thirty something well paid professionals who just choose to pay their bills and then use up whatever disposable income they have each month on recreation (the only way the article touched upon it is the reference to people eating at restaurants, although there are plenty of other expenditures such as vacations, electronics, going out drinking with friends). And there's nothing wrong with that if that's how someone chooses to live with the money they earn. But it's definitely a completely different thing than someone who has no choice but to live paycheck to paycheck and is unable to save. But we live in an instant gratification culture so it's to be expected I suppose. But I know people who work 2 jobs just to pay their rent, electric, modest car payment, food, etc. and I also know people who earn close to if not at 6 figures and who each month buy some new toy or go out to dinner 4-5 nights a week, go out to bars and drop $100 a night on the weekend, and after all bills are paid don't have any savings. Again, nothing wrong with that but it's not the same category as the other people.

5. I recently got off the paycheck-to-paycheck treadmill
thanks to the fact that I'm working an average of 90 hours a week. I could end up back there, however, if the overtime dries up.

8. Necessity and lots of caffeine
Plus constantly thinking of a future when I won't have to do it anymore. It hasn't come yet but I still dream of when it will.
