Peter Pace: Homosexuality is immoral.

Fuck you, Pace.

What about invading a sovereign nation on trumped up lies? Is that immoral?

What about the torture of often innocent civilians? Is that immoral?

What about the billions being given to contractors via no-bid contracts, while Americans here at home are dying due to poverty? Is that immoral?

What about the Iraqi children who have been killed or maimed for life due to our bombs missing their targets? Is that immoral?

What about the American troops raping children and then killing them and their families? Is that immoral?

How about the troops brought home due to injuries they received in the war being forced to lie in their own urine for a day while under government care? Is that immoral?

What about a pResident and Vice President who put cronyism and corporate profit above all else? Is that immoral?

Fuck you, Pace. You are part of the problem. Iraq is a friggin' mess and that's in large part to your inability to do your job properly. You are not a leader, you are a criminal. I hope you go down with Bush and Cheney if/when Congress finally gets its act together.

The military will take criminals and others of questionable morals, but not gay people. How great is that? And you wonder why more people aren't signing up to serve. A sham of a war. A sham of a military. Doesn't seem too difficult to figure out what the problem is to me.

You want to know what the problem is? Look in the mirror, asshole.

1. "KID, HAVE YOU REHABILITATED YOURSELF?"
I went over to the sargent, said, "Sargeant, you got a lot a damn gall to
ask me if I've rehabilitated myself, I mean, I mean, I mean that just, I'm
sittin' here on the bench, I mean I'm sittin here on the Group W bench
'cause you want to know if I'm moral enough join the army, burn women,
kids, houses and villages after bein' a litterbug." He looked at me and
said, "Kid, we don't like your kind, and we're gonna send your fingerprints
off to Washington."

Still relevant today. Sigh.

15. More:
And I went up there, I said, "Shrink, I want to kill. I mean, I wanna, I
wanna kill. Kill. I wanna, I wanna see, I wanna see blood and gore and
guts and veins in my teeth. Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill,
KILL, KILL." And I started jumpin up and down yelling, "KILL, KILL," and
he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down
yelling, "KILL, KILL." And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me,
sent me down the hall, said, "You're our boy."

2. And war isn't?
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 07:46 AM by Lithos
Talked about screwed up priorities. War is a choice people make, homosexuality isn't.

4. Interesting
Pete says homosexuals should not be allowed to serve in the military "openly." So they can stay in the closet and die for their country?

He also equates homosexuality to adultery. So no Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, Marine, CoastGuardsmen ever committed adultery? Oh Peter you are such a hoot.

I guess its okay to keep the wife beaters, and alcoholics and those with out a notion of financial management in uniform.

Pete you should have so much more on your to do list.

6. What is up with this guy?
how sad.

"I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts," Pace said.

So homosexual acts between three individuals are OK? That is very odd wording.

The biggest problem is that he recognizes that this is just his belief - he doesn't even try to claim it's fact - and he still thinks that the government should back up his personal belief. If he wants to have stupid beliefs that's his problem, but when he wants the government to set policy based on his stupid beliefs, it's everyone's problem.

I don't feel comfortable knowing he's in a leadership position.

7. And his reason is what, exactly?
What makes homosexuality "immoral?" Why are immoral Marines any less effective than moral ones?

8. I suppose he's either Christian, Muslim or Jewish
All three of those religions clearly hold homosexuality to be immoral. More reason to be an atheist if you ask me.

11. I saw this dweeb on the news last night.....
spouting off about how his upbringing taught him that it was immoral...yada,yada,yada. :eyes: I'm willing to bet that his upbringing is the reason he's in the armed forces to begin with. That he was taught at any early age how to obey orders at all times, no matter how ridiculous and fruitless the order, to respect authority and never question it, to be a religious zealot and hate all those who have different beliefs than him. I'm sure his upbringing taught him a lot of things....most of which are dead wrong. This man's ass is so tight I doubt he can take a shit, nor want to, lest he soil something. An anal-retentive (and to quote from Brando in Apocalypse Now) "errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill". Never being strong enough to question anything he was told to do, he became part of an organization that rewards that behavior, encourages it, revels in it.

Yes, he rose to the rank of General, but it wasn't because of independent thinking. It was because he was a good little order taker and good little ass kisser and most of all, a good little hater. The perfect little stooge to be used by those not brave enough to fight at all. A plastic "Army Man" so willing to be pushed around a game board by people with little concern for human life and even less for human dignity.

Yeah, I saw his pathetic speech. And I also saw, all too clearly, into the pathetic little man that made the speech.

18. A Good solider does whatever his higher ups tell him
no questions ask. That is what makes a good solider. If he disobeys the orders of his superior he could endanger the rest of his group.

Saying that, this gay edict of don't ask don't tell is asine as I am sure that homosexuals make perfectly good soliders who obey their commanders. I am unaware of any wanting to have sex with their group while in fox holes or anywhere else. Anymore than I am unaware of any non-homosexual soliders wanting to have sex with members of their group while in fox holes or anywhere else.

20. I understand your point.....
about the "good soldier" and all, but I guess I can't wrap my mind around the mentality it takes to put oneself in that position in the first place. To relinquish all individuality, to obey every order no matter how wrong it may be goes against every fiber of my being: which is why I'd never make it in the Armed Forces. I guess I just can't understand how someone would willingly subject themselves to it.
Perhaps in a time of war where our country was directly attacked, within our own borders, I could yield to that. But in a war of choice, a needless, immoral and illegal war? Not a chance. I question everything and couldn't follow an order I KNEW was wrong. I can't understand those that can and do.

16. If immoral, homosexuality must rank below making a graven image taking the Lord's name in vain,
bowing down to the wrong god (Mitt Romney Alert! - just kidding), working on a Sunday, lying under oath (Scooter Libby Alert! - not kidding), disobeying your parents, raping your neighbor (Abu Ghraib Alert!), coveting your neighbor's vast oil reserves (Halli burton Alert!), stealing your neighbor's vast oil reserves (ibid.), murdering your neighbor for his vast oil reserves (ibid.) ....

If being homosexual is immoral, it doesn't seem to rank nearly as high as half the shit going on in Iraq.

22. surprised and disappointed considering where he grew up
Pace grew up and went to high school in Teaneck, New Jersey, one of the nation's leaders in tolerance by reputation and was, as an example, one of the first if not the very first town in the United States to voluntarily utilize school busing to achieve integration in its schools. It is a multi-ethnic, multi-racial community. It is a haven for progressive Democrats in Bergen County, New Jersey and represented in Congress by Steve Rothman. It's about the last place in northeastern New Jersey I'd expect someone to come from and yet have such a backward, ridiculous opinion about "morality".
