A Red Letter Day for Uranus
On this date in 1781 Uranus was discovered by Englishman William Herschel. It almost was named Georgium Sidus (George's Star) after King George III but he wasn't very popular because the kids across the Pond were kicking England's ass at the time. Uranus is green, very cold and four times the size of earth. (Not a very good pickup line.) It is only one of two planets (the other Venus) which rotates clockwise. And on this date in 1930, the discovery of Pluto was announced.

1. Uranus is a planetary archetype for freedom

so it's perfectly logical to assume that republicons hate Uranus -- since they hate freedom, and they hate America, as their actions amply demonstrate.

Up with uranus !

6. One of my favorite physics professors
Was a younger bloke (by the standards of that department). Doom was popular then, and he played it; he would put difficult ideas in physics into video game or Star Trek terms to help us understand, etc.

Anyway, his degree was actually in Astronomy, and there were two surefire ways to piss him off...

1. Ask, "Why are we learning about these Kepler Laws? How does that help us learn how to tell the future?"

2. Pronounce Uranus, "Your anus."

IT'S YOUR-UH-NUS, DAMN IT!!!

9. Another one
Heard this on Dr. Demento

I want to kiss her but (pause) she won't let me
I want to hold her behind (pause) closed doors and more
etc.

She was the kind of woman who took men's hearts and rectum (wrecked 'em)
